my bb will also cry sometimes when he sees the maid. but i think he is less sticky than lucas since we only hire the maid when he's 8M old. however, as before 8m, he's taken care by por por, so he is more stickly to porpor now and not willing to walk when he sees porpor....
btw, will your maid leave soon??

yes, to my surprise. i think she's telling the truth. but if i let her take a leave, not sure if she can come back in time. problem - both of her teenage sons stopped studying & not talking to her. they started smoking & drinking. she wants to go back to talk to them & come back to work. cos she's the bread winner of the family, separated from husband. she has to look after 3 children + her parents.
if i give her 4 week off, & she doesn't come back, will have no maid for at least 2 months in total!!! i told her i'd start looking for now. if i see someone good, really can't wait for her.......

family problem?? not due to her application to canada???
my sis got the smiliar case b4. Her maid wanted to go back home to see her family and she promised she will be back. (her relationship w/ my sis was good.) but of course no return!! she broke the contract. but as an employer, nothing we can do.
so u better find a new maid now. it is no harm if u can see a suitable one.

just interviewed a maid today, just want to share with you al:
Advantages
- good experience withc childcare
- been in hk for 14 years
- children all grown up
- speak good english
Disadv
- age: 45
- last job - taking care of elderly; quite easy job
- a little "old ginger" ie not sure if i can head her
spoke with her employer in hk, she told me she was good to her babies but she said i had to be smarter than her.
what do you think, mommies?
my existing maid is not this type, she is of similar age & family background. but she's quite obedient & respect me well, hard working.

i prefer hiring from overseas...but do u have urgency for the maid?? so timing may be your one of your main concern apart from quality.
is she working for one employer for 14 years?
well, she is a bit old (i'm not age discrimination), but u know taking care of bb (or young child) is not an easy thing. it really requires a lot of energy.
if the maid's character is good, for sure she will be very loyal to u cuz' it is not easy to find another job again.

45...bit old ... i wonder if she can have energy to take care of baby and to tidy up the home at the same time... besides, do u know her life with previous employer? coz she may compare everything of the ex-employer with u...

thx bk sister for your advice. spent 2 hrs at the agency today, have 2 candidates, pls give some comments:
1/ Candidate A
- been in hk for 6yrs in total
- coming up to 4 yrs with current employer
- experience with child/baby care
- reason of leaving: employer doesn't want to pay long service (called up her current employer & confirmed)
- age: 41
- her own children - all grown up
Comments from Employer
- can handle the job
- can follow instructions
2/ Candidate B
- never been in hk
- only worked in philippines for a family of 5 ( 2 adults + 3 children)
- "white paper"
- age: 27
- have children of her own (14, 12, 2 mth)
who would you hire, pls advise? i'm a working mother & only maid & baby at home during the day.
If only two, i will certainly choose Candidate A..... but preferable if she was younger (<35). when will your existing maid leave?? if u urgently need a maid and no other better choice is expected, then can choose candidate A...
i'd also prefer 30 sth. went to overseas agency yesterday, it's like walk-in open interview. it's more like them picking us. least preferred work type : new born & disable!!!!! most of these people r looking for job upgrade ie easier jobs. so i only got the adv of "working mom" ie no one to watch them all day that's it..... the agency told me philippinos are really choosy, they don't like looking after babies. all of them want to look for working couples, just cleaning & cooking!!!
