using flash on babies?

I have heard people say that it's NOT OK to use flash on babies...

Is it a myth, or are there any research on this? If it's NOT OK for babies, when is the ideal age when one use a speedlight on babies (with diffuser?) - not meant to be difinitive, but I'd like to hear what other fathers think.

Yes, it's better not to use flash on babies, even if you REALLY want to use , use it in a far distance.

Yes, I think it is not good for the baby.

I used it for my son for about 4 months after his born. I tried to take photo with him by using very big aperture instead of using flash. Therefore, the exposure of the baby maybe not very good during his early age.

我個仔而家8個幾月, 我都仲未敢直接閃佢, 打算等佢滿左1歲先敢用flash, 早排買左個同步外閃, 效果都唔錯, 有時甚至比dc既內置閃光燈更好.

I think it's ok gaw. I used flash on my daughter 1 minutes after she was born. Take at least 30 pictures a day with flash. Don't get the flash too close to her eyes, I guess it's ok.

I'm a bit obessed with baby photos because I don't get any baby photos of myself.
