In fact, I would spend some time to talk a while with by son every night since he was a BB. When he showed interest, I talked a bit more. When he had more reaction, I tried to bring some colourful pictures to him and explained to him what they were. Then I brought some simple books like fruits, transport, animals and turned over the pages with him and encouraged him to turn the pages (I think at that time he was about 1). As time goes by, he was more eager to look for more, then I started off with stories.
