I prefer to younger one. Probably she will have more energy to play with your kid. I think her performance is at least OK otherwise she could not have worked for 4 years with the same employer.
I have similar case. I have two babies, one is 2.4yrs & one is only 4mth. Before the second baby born, I employed an inin, at that time, I have same concern as you. My choice is also very similar as you now. I have two experiences finally. First maid, 28yrs old, has one 2yrs old girl and 4yrs working experience in Taiwan. She came only 4 days and resigened by herself becasue she had home sick and could not adapted to hk weather (very cold winter this Jan). Then, I picked second one who is only 25yrs old, single, has working experience in in Singapore. She said she has experience in taking care small child (smallest one is 1.5yrs). She came for 3months but she totally did not know how to take care of baby. Then I asked her to play with my 2yrs daughter, but she did not know how to play with her, she just knew "don't do that, don't do this" or " mom, baby is touching the knife" and she did not know how to stop her even if my girl is next to her. Worse, I always found her dreaming about getting boy friend, buying beautiful clothes. How did I know this?? she left her letter in kitchen one time and the letter is in English, so I know what she is thinking. She also always made plan of holiday. She was waiting for holiday to have fun outside. That made me very worried. And the most important reason I fried her is she had "mental problem". Her previous employer told me that she was turned down by a man during her stay in Singapore and she was sent to hospital and received medication. After that she always did something strange at home so her previous employer sent her back to her home. See, this maid is single, have good experience (with very good reference letter, but the letter is her previouse employer gave her for asking her back home). Now, I have employed 3rd maid who is married (28yrs) and has one 2yrs old girl. I have same worry as you that she may have home sick. My mother ask me to take old woman, something like 35 with many children (means heavy burden). Sometimes, a lot maid they said they have child caring experience, but most of them just work for a family with some kids or babies, not they are the one taking care of babies. My maid is like this, her employer has 3 children, then she said she has experience of baby caring, but her previous employer told me she just did the cleaning and cooking. Good luck to you.
I already checked that the maid who married has 14th months baby, she didn't finished the contract with 2 years as she requested an ex-employer to let her came back indonesia for pregnancy otherwise, her husband will leave away.....So, I think she is not a loyal maid.
And the other one who is single already employed by other employer.
Ah....I need to search other new maid now.
As mother role, we need to face that problems all the time.
I will still prefer to choose a single maid with experience, age should be mid-twenty to mid-thirty. For the married maid with young child, they will got home sick easily and they got lots of excuses to borrow money later on.
I'm now also seeking a helper with stable working history (around 4 years or above) in Singpore or Middle East and with childcare experience during her past job. I think this will be much better, right?
