The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) today announced that effective 01 January 2009, POLO will no longer process documents of name-hires in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Code, as amended and POEA Circular No. 44, series of 1996. Accordingly, endorsement for exemption from the ban on direct hiring of HSWs will be limited only to employers covered under the following categories:
Members of the diplomatic corps;
Members of International Organizations;
Immediate members of the family of heads of state/government;
Ministers, deputy ministers and other senior officials of the host country; and
Employers residing in countries where foreign agencies do not operate.
Just want to clarify whether the new rule applied to direct hire maid from Phil but not for local finished / terminated contract maid to change new employer in HK. Anyone know ?
