If your licence has expired more than six months and less than five years you must visit a VicRoads Customer Service Centre and:

• complete a licence or learner permit application form [PDF 829 Kb]
• bring your existing licence card as evidence of identity. If you cannot produce your licence card, you must provide evidence of identity documents
• pay the renewal fee (pay by VISA, MasterCard*, cheque, EFTPOS or cash)
  

* A card payment fee applies

If you are a Victorian resident temporarily living interstate or overseas you can still renew your licence by completing a Photo kit form [PDF 98 kb]and sending it to:

KEW VIC 3001

If your licence has expired more than five years, you will need to complete the following tests. The tests will be determined by the licence you wish to hold:

• learner permit knowledge test
• drive test
• motorcycle learner permit knowledge test
• motorcycle learner permit skill assessment (accredited provider only)
• motorcycle licence skill assessment (accredited provider only)
• heavy vehicle knowledge test
• heavy vehicle licence assessment (accredited provider only)
• marine knowledge and PWC endorsement test.
  

The above tests will not be required if you can provide evidence that you hold or have held a current interstate or overseas licence within the last five years.
