Besides the baby's birth certificate, my Certificate of Naturalization, old and current USA passports from both my husband and me, my social security card, our joint income tax returns for the past 5 years, they also wanted our marriage license. The officer even went as far as asking me the reason I went to the States 13 years ago, what my major was in college, and the reason we got married.

I don't know if it's just me or what, because obviously the couple at the next window was asked for the minimal supporting documents, just the baby's birthday certificate, the mom's naturalization cert, and the parents' passports.

I never mind the rain from the sky, as long as I have the sun in your eyes~

我係11年前同8年前申請，當時只交左老公passport 同ssn, 香港出世紙，居香港，冇問野，就咁就批左美國護照同birth cert born aboard 俾兩個仔

Is it they will approve right on the spot ? The passport will be picked up later? How long is the whole process from handing in the form to having an interview? Can you tell me more about the process please? Thank you very much.

Yes, they will most likely approve right at the spot if you provide them all the supporting docs. The passport will be mailed to you later in a month or so. From the time you make an online appointment with the consulate to the day you receive the passport back, it's about 6 weeks to 8 weeks.

No , coz they are send you us passport and cert of born aboard, it means baby are us citizens

Remember to apply the ssn at the same time. Coz you will need it for file a tax

Yes, appy for the SSN at the same time. However, SSN card won't arrive in a much later time than the passport.

Do you mean to apply the SSN at the same time while applying for the US passport?

Yes, on the form, it will ask if you would like to apply for a SSN at the same time.
