downtown for a shared accommodation only costs you $350-450...

If you buy a house, you need to pay property tax each year. The tax is different depending which city you live in. Also you need to pay all the legal fee when you buy a house.

For 2006, an example of property tax in Richmond Hill - Bayview Ave/Major Mackenzie Dr area: appx. $3,600 p.a. for a 1,700 s.f., 7 year old house.

Beginning last summer, some of my HK friends (Canadian citizens) sent their kids (14 - 15 yrs old) alone to study grade 9 in Toronto area. Is there some problem with the education system (esp. in high school) in HK? I don't think it's good for the kids and families to separate especially when the kids are so young!

請問是否從離開加拿大第一日起連續超過2年就不需要報稅，是不是法例，入境後需要怎樣報，會不會有影響？

as far as I know, you have to declare non-residency before you leave in order to avoid the tax. Otherwise, you will have to pay no matter how long you have gone.

if you have not claimed to be non-resident, Revenue canada has the right to charge you income tax on your source income that generated from overseas.
