Long Island唔屬於Queens區.学區制度唔同.Long Island係好大嘅地區,租金差距可以好大.
我冇租樓經驗,唔多清楚租樓行情.但係冇車的話出入Bayside & Little Neck会唔方便架.我覺得Jamaica都幾近架.你上綱睇下嗰NYC subway map就会知有幾近而Jamaica有好多大站(交通方便),我之前都日日去嗰度轉車返工,後來懶咗先轉take express bus咯...

just came back from Washington DC (actually is all the way from florida).. so wired that we did not see a Chinese in Chinatown on Sunday afternoon time.. haha..
well... Washington DC is one of the 10 worst state in (crimes) US.. if you planned to go to DC, you better go to North VA which is just the next state..
City of alexenda(forgive me if I spell it wrong).. in VA.. very nice, and well develop.. all apartments with the parking lot next to it.. with supermarket and other support service.
I did pay attention to DC and VA because one of our BK moms will move to VA (as per what she mention), so on our way back, I just look if the area is good to stay.
For Jamaica.. and DC.. they are the same place for me.. Crime... and 黑人= not safe.

真是多謝你的意見.真令我明白了很多，
我大女要報大學，但我上綱睇SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Albany. 但Out stay student and internation student一樣咁貴,差不多２萬幾美金，美國的大學真貴啊，可否指點我有升讀大學的資料，我記得我大哥同我講很平，四仟幾元美金一年，又可向政府借錢，點解同現實不同呢？希望你唔好覺得我煩？多多比意見，多謝你的意見！

friendly reminder.. the first year you arrive, will consider as international student, not local student, also, if you study out of NYC (if you live in NYC, no matter how many years), you will lose the benefit as well. After the first year of stay in the same city, then your daughter can use "local student" status to get the local student benefit. Many student has student load, and other scholarship, therefore, the school fee becomes cheaper.
Also depends on what subject she picks as well.

For me.. first will pick Stony Brook... haha.. because that is the only I know.. I came here only 7 years.. couldn't provide any help.. so sorry about it.

而我的女兒是會在今年十二月才跟我到 new york 我想知道是計我 on land 的時間抑或我的女兒 on land 的時間滿一年計呢？如果我女兒十二月跟我去new york 居住，可否向政府立刻申請貸款讀大學呢？

你個女唔應該當係out of state居民...佢land係NY就係NY resident,可以俾NY學生費用.但你如果去寄宿学校就要額外俾寄宿錢.Stony Brook我都覺得要住campus.因為方便温書‧學校facility都算唔錯.早幾年Computer Associates既老細Charles Wang捐咗好多錢 to stony.加上N年前楊振寧响嗰度教書,好多asians响嗰度讀science related majors...
如果你想pay $4k學費一年就最好留意CUNY.因為CUNY多數都不用寄宿,可以做commuter.

在這幾個星期裡，我學到了很多東西，在上一年都無法知道，使我有信心去移民。我會請求我大哥在Brooklyn 租一間屋暫住，其後會在Staten island, little neck ，Fresh meadow and bayside 去租一間屋長住，然後去找學校給仔女，而自已及老公去讀英文班，一個月左右去報讀職業課程，畢業後找工作，因為無工作及自僱人仕和做生意的是得不到政府資助，例如醫療及退稅等。真是無乜才能在美國工作，這是我最憂心的，其實我哋可以讀乜嘢職業課程是較適合我及我先生，可否提供一些議見，作為參考？

I don't know that site, don't mind to pay a little bit if I would buy the stuff anyway. I usually google for coupons, check some freebies/deals sites before making purchases, particularly online purchases. There're several times that I can hunt down something nice with a good deal. But yes, sometimes it is so time-consuming. I do that at night or at lunch/break time in the office.

No iPhone here, I use Blackberry which does not have that much apps. I have tried Samsung Solstice, it is nice to be touch screen but it is so slippery and I dropped it at least 3 times in a roll.

我唔係住喺紐約，但睇到你話哥哥講讀大學只要一年幾千蚊，其實係咪community college或者junior college？我住西岸，呢度d係一科科計，有d課程係免費，好似係英文ESL，通識課程，體育興趣班，總之唔計學分果d都係免費，最近我都同老公一齊去上氣功班，每星期一堂兩個鐘唔收費，但個老師一d都唔馬虎架。學分制果d有d都唔差，好似nursing，一年只係收40人，真係爭崩頭，我都有諗過讀，老公都讚承，但有咗小朋友之後，要quit咗份工全職讀幾年對我嚟講幾risky，最後都係做番而家份秘書仔工，唔覺已經5年，都唔知有冇可能轉工啦～

你而家做開咩工架？有冇咩特別技能？識電腦，打字，英文流利，都唔難搵工，記得叫而家老細寫定reference letter，mark低佢嘅聯絡地址電話email，因為大公司一般都要check reference，另外學歷証明文憑都要有齊，記得寫低d地址電話人名等等，我做HR related嘅工種，實在太多人唔記得以前住址，公司地址。好似我公司會要填10年來嘅住址，最少7年工作地址，如果中間有失業都要填清楚。

点解你要insist去26学區讀書但上到大学就要想去CUNY類型嘅大学?俾着我就会去租金較平又近交通嘅地方住.將多餘rent $去供大女讀SUNY.我自己响C級高中畢業再讀state u.見工Ｄ人只問我大学資料.中小学就從來唔問...眼見d大公司揾intern都係選擇well known 小小既大学...不過最好就係學區好,大学又好...

我唔知有冇錯, 新移民頭一年如果入大學係唔當local, 未可以得到local student 嘅優惠, 你最好去大學check 清楚, or 入住community college 讀第一年再揀... 如果出年9月開學, 你最遲今年11月要開始攪, otherwise 會miss deadline

我怎會介意，
我無任可專長，只對玄學有認識而巳，在香港是家庭主婦，先生是公務員，但亦無專長，只對訓練犬隻有認識而巳。我希望能在美國從新開始！嗜好是做生意，我有想過做婚姻介紹所，介紹香港及大陸女子嫁給華僑，又想過聯絡香港大陸的廠商運貨來美國賣，因為我見到這裡的物品，例如衫、窗廉、床上用品、手機、Toilet papaer甚至杯麵都非常貴又唔好食，其實我都有聯絡廠商有取得批發價，不過對入口商品去美國又不認識，所以等住落才算，聽講做生意就乜福利都無！所以才想清楚才做，現在最重要讀一些課程去找工作來維持生活！有乜嘢好介紹及意見！謝謝
