聖馬拉奇預言（Saint Malachy），又稱教宗預言，是由12世紀預言家、愛爾蘭大主教聖馬拉奇（MalachyO'Morgair）所撰寫。1139年，聖馬拉奇到羅馬訪問時，看到了關於未來的異象，以及末日審判前共112位教宗的影像。聖馬拉奇將所見的異象以拉丁文短語，紀錄在羊皮紙上，共112句，每句則對應著一個教宗，並將其交給當時的教宗諾森二世。當時的教廷認為預言存在爭議性，因此將預言封存在羅馬教的機密館裡。直到1595年才被歷史學家懷恩（Arnold de Wyon）重新發現。
預言方濟各是最後一位教宗 這年成世界終結之年
然而預言是如何指向最後一位教宗，就是剛辭世的第112位教宗方濟各？預言中，對方濟各的描述是「Petrus Romanus」（羅馬人伯多祿）。方濟各的父親是由意大利移民至阿根廷，因此他有意大利人的血統，因此以羅馬人形容他也相對合理。另外，方濟各之所以會選用這名號，是為了紀念著名聖人「聖方濟各」，他的全名是「Francesco di Pietro di Bernardone」，而意大利文的「Pietro」即是英文「Peter」，根據天主教的中文翻譯則是「伯多祿」，被人認為與預言吻合。
而預言更被認為是未日之說，以下為拉丁文原文：
"In psecutione extrema S.R.E sedebit.
Petrus Romanus,qui pascet oues in multis tribulationibus:
quibus transactis ciuitas septicollis diruetur index tremendous indicabit populum sum.Finis."

"In the extreme persecution of the Holy Roman Church,there will sit[i.e.,as bishop].
