Price is around $3,500 but only consideration is 3-cells battery, only last around 1.5 hrs or even less.

Current S-10 comes with 6-cells which last for 3.5 hrs and cost around $3,900.

Forgot to mention, apart from hard drive, for netbook, make sure it's running Win XP (or Linux), not Vista -- due to limited resources of netbook.

Dell machine is OK. Not extremely attractive, having consider it only comes with 3-cell battery with price tag at $3,600. If ask for 6-cell, you've go to pay an extra $200.

Therefore, $3,800 for a netbook with 6-cell? I'll say brands like ASUS, Lenovo and Samsung can also offer similar price.

In fact, brands that I've mentioned, including Dell, have similar hardware, say, CPU, RAM, hard drive, camera, ... The only consideration is the "out look"/attractiveness of the machine -- which is a personal feeling, don't you think?

Thanks.

Most netbook support Y-5 and lower end (around $3,900) will only support a/b/g where as high end (around $4,200) will support a/b/g/n. So, it's up to u to pay a little bit more for "n".

Win XP and not Vista is because Vista give you lots of headache for connecting other preliferal due to lack of drivers support. Besides, Vista will consume more resources. So, if a netbook happens to run on Vista, forget about it.

6-cells battery is very important and I'll still stick with that. Never, ever, get a netbook/notebook with 3-cells.

Display. Most Netbook nowadays install with 10.1" LCD, say Lenovo S10. If you want one with bigger LCD, you'll have to wait. Lenovo S11 and S12 will comes with a 12" LCD but gods know when it will be available.

As I've said. For 10.1" netbook, Lenovo, Samsung and Asus are really good and cost around $3,900. The only thing you really, really need to consider is the outlook, which is your own personal choice. So, visit Broadway or Fortress and have request to have 3 netbook placed side-by-side and see which one you'd prefer.

Good hunting.

Just take it as Y-5 standard. "n" is the latest standard, which give you the fastest connection speed (can't recall the figure) but cost a little bit more (in terms of router, netbook and notebook). Most hot-spot, say lirbrary and Starxxxks, support a/b/g. Rumors said that some PXXW hotspot support "n" but I can't confirm.
