My son got sick recently. He had runny nose, probably got the virus from my daughter or me. I took him to see the doctor. The medicine are quite mild, so don't worry. After 1 week of runny nose and a bit coughing. My son ended up taking antibiotic for 5 days. I agree that our parents do not suggest to give medicine to babies... however, the babies suffer more if we let them to recover by themselves. They are only 2 to 3 months old. Also, the babies need to get back in shape quickly to take the scheduled injection at child health center.
Even we, as adults, feel very sick if we try to recover from illness by ourselves.....
Let the baby recovers sooner, so that she has more appetite, consumes more milk, build up a healthier body.
By the way, the 3 points that the mother suggested are very useful. I followed those points when I took care of my son during his sick times.
I know one 兒科醫生 called Dr. Kwok Tze Leung at G/F., Jade Field Garden, 17 Ngau Tau Kok Rd. tel: 2758-5988.
My son also have dry cough, only cough at 5/6am. 鼻塞 and no fever. My mom kept saying to take him to doctor, so I ended up taking him there. The doctor said my son has throat & eye infection ?-( ?-( ?-( but I really don't think my son is as serious as the doctor said. Also he is totally breastfeed, so i thought he should be stronger but I guess not, I really don't know law.
My baby seems to be better recently because the humidity is not so dry and I prone up my baby for sleeping every night. Besides this, my husband has bought an air filter for cleaning the room air before sleeping.
