I will move from HK to Australia in August. The location is about 4.5 hr from Perth. I quote from two companies, ranging from HKD60K to HKD66K for one 20ft full container. Half 20ft container is just several thousands dollar less...
I plan to stay there for 2 -3 yrs, then move to east coast. Would you give me advice if I should ship my things by container or should I buy everything new there? I have some books, some kitchen wares and some stuffs of my 2-yr old son that I should send... so I am thinking if I should send these things by post office, which is around $350 a box of 20kg.... but the size is limited....
i suggest u buy second hand if u don't mind........or rent those things in here. my husband said it was expensive. the shipping fee can buy many stuffs...
We spent around HK$55K including insurance, warehouse and quarantine charges for a 20ft container. I prefer to ship them here, otherwise I have to find places to keep them in HK or to give them away which is such a waste. When I first came, I bought some basic electrical appliances e.g. washing machine, TV, refrigerator, vacuum, microwave, air conditioners and sofa. Now the shipment arrived and I have almost everything.
Thanks for all advice... yes the australian dollar is so high now.... :( I guess it will be higher and higher...I think I may use the service of post office and buy new stuffs in Australia.... I also consider second hand products but I have no idea where I can find it since I have never been to there before... if I use post office, I can send basic stuffs one and half months before I leave HK and no need to send them once... then when I arrive there, I have some basic stuffs to use, just make sure to buy washing machine and fridge first...
