very frustrated - need to stop breastfeeding becos of Eczema
Dr suggested that I should stop breastfeeding my bb cos she has eczema. Likely to be caused by the protein and dairy products intake by me which gets into the mammy's milk. I'm soooooooooo frustrated. BB is now 4 months old. I overcome all the difficulites in breastfeeeding bb and only found out now that it may be the cause of her serious skin problem......so frustrated!!!
Should I stop breastfeeding her??????

do you need to apply steriod on your baby boy? The doctor gave me some betnovate ointment to apply on bb and atarax which is to be taken by bb.
I'm hesitate in giving her the medicine....

no, no, no.
My baby also had severe eczema when he was 4 months old.
Then we just applied him with topical steroid shortly, then stopped later.
Bath him with the silver flower ( herbal medicine, sounds like Kam Ngan Fa )
of course feed him with breastmilk still.
He is getting along quite well.
Don't worry.
Just assure yourself that if he is drinking milk powder, the condition will be even worse.

I went to see a naturopath today to seek for a second opinion and even did a test on bb with regards to the allergens. The test result is frustrating. I have to cut not only all dairy products, but all fish; shellfish; yeast; wheat; soy sauce, vinegar, chocolate, oats and sugar. Which basically is suggesting that I either have to stop breastfeeding or eat only white rice, vegetables (no mushroom) and chicken without any sauce.....
Steroid would only suppress the situation but not helping. Once stopped using, it started again.
I have also tried silver flower but not help at all.....
If stop breastfeeding, the doctor will prescribe a very special formula for bb which is a special brand not offered in the market.
I'm soooo depressed....

thinking backward, i have overcome all the problems one can have for breastfeeding - e.g. not enough milk supply and mastitis. I even have to use needle to unblock the duct blockage on my nipple by myself. And, apart from 3 hrs of sleep per night, i was either feeding bb (40mins each side and 20mins burping after each side) or pumping (pump everytime after feeding) in a 2 hour interval everyday in order to increase my milk supply. Now, I have finally successfully got more than 300 oz of milk stored in the freeze and only know that all efforts are futile and I have to stop...the source of all the problems my bb has is due to my breast milk....what should I do?!!!!!
I really dont know if I should stop or not.....

If I were you, I will be very depressed also. Doctors in Hong Kong are not very supportive to bf. My son's previous doctor really show no support to bf and everytime when my son was sick, the doctor asked me not to bf!!! Then I have changed another doctor and this one is pretty supportive to bf. Are you sure the second doctor is really supportive to bf? If the doctor really support to bf and he suggested you to stop bf, you may really need to. For us as a mother, we bf because we believe mother milk is good to baby. If our baby show negative to our milk, as a mother we need to give some substitue. Before you decide to stop, you better to check out whether the second doctor really support bf!

Also, my baby is allergy to pumpkin but it doesnt mean I cannot eat pumpkin. My baby cannot eat pumpkin. But I always ate pumpkin when he was under 6 months old. There was no symptom of allergy at that time. I only aware he is allergy to pumpkin when he has pumpkin congee. So.......your baby allergy to many food, does it really mean you cannot take!??? I doubt.

named, Leung Suk Fong, she's vvery supportive of breastfeeding, and also a quite good doctor for babies/children,
maybe you try to seek her consultation?
try not to quit BF, unless there's no other choices

i cant make the decision right now. I am not too sure if the doctor is supportive of breastfeeding or not.... But he seems to be quite experienced in ashma and other allergy for kids and infants....

I have just looked at Dingding's photo when he was 1 month old. I suddently noticed at that time Dingding's face were full of red spot. This really recalled me at that time the doctor adviced me Dingding was suffered from Eczema. Also, Dingdingg has sent to hospital twice because there were blood spot in his stool. Later, we found that Dingding is allergy/intolerant to the diary products. Before Dingding was 3/4 months old, I did not take any diary products. I remember I take "Tsang Chu" (Pearl) milk tea once. Dingding's stool showed blood spot immediately!!
Telling these because I want you know you are not the only one suffered from this and you are not lonely! My advice is try consulting another doctor. Yes. Leung Suk Fan is a good doctor who are very supportive to BF. Better to consult her before you make your final decision.

i dont think u need to stop.. but stop the dariy product urself...
u can see some more doctors to seek for advice, some doctors are very support breast feed mothers.. and u can call the breast-feeding hotline to seek for advice 29618868
i like very much the doctors and nurses in tko clinicas they always help me with breast feeding problem....
btw, my sister in law also faced the same problem with u,,,, but now her daughter is very good, dont worry!!!!!!!!!she hasnt stop breast feeding too as we all know that is the best for baby.............

thanks for all your support! today bb smile to me while i'm feeding her. i dont think i will stop breastfeeding, at least for now. i will try cut all dairy products, shellfish and yeast first and see how it goes. worst case scenario, i will also cut fish.
