My son doesn't like to eat solid, I tried lots of things, don't know what to do. If he's too hungry he will have to drink milk first and then eat a few spoons and then be grumpy. I tried to use a rattle, mirror(his favourite- he thinks he's handsome ),choo choo train goes into his mouth, his dad play with him, me carrying him and feed him at the same time (quite clingy). He would only finish the cereal with milk in it and apple but nothing else. He's eating 5-6 times milk 2-3times solid
Can any one help?

I tried to mix in meat now( I thought he couldn't eat yet so didn't put in before) and he's eating a lot better, but still don't have the patience to sit in the high chair.
Also, I think he likes stronger taste, so when I have more other things in the rice, he eats more, I guess that was the biggest problem before, I didn't know what to cook him.

carolina, my girl had the same experience three month ago when I just introduced solid to her. My suggestion is: Just be patient to find out which kind of food he will enjoy more, and introduce them often at the first, then will go smooth later~~~~when it comes to high chair, I agree with domcheng's point that u should insist it, or will get worse after he grows up~~~my daughter also refused to be tied up for days, I just tried anything to atttact her like ask dad to dance in front of her( or do things to entertain her), playing her favorite DVD or just TV ~~~~ though it is a bit tough at the beginning, and these habits not so good the same time, she finaly learn that she should be right there when eating and get used to that, and now I am helping her to quiting that eating without TV ^0^ ~~~~for ur reference.

carolina, my bb is similar, she doesnt like to be tied up. when i feed her, she will eat 2-3 spoons then ask me to hold her. but i learned from the book, if we are not strict to put bb on the chair now, when bb can walk, we have to chase her for meal. So i am insisting to put her on the chair to feed.

Well, I tried corn juice in the congee, he eats a lot better, I guess he likes strong taste.
Yeah he can eat lot more with milk in the cereal, but it has been two months already, so don't want to stick to that. I guess one more thing is he doesn't want to be tied up in the high chair,he loves freedom!

Hi Carolina,

For the Rice Cereal, use his formula milk to mix it.
BB is easy to adapt with the taste. Make it thinner first (more milk) in the beginning, if he eat well, then it can make it thicker (less milk).

For the congee, I cook the soup first (eg. carrot with pork or chicken), then it use the soup to cook congee. The taste will be better. You can try congee with no meat. Then you can add vegetable or meat into the congee when baby get use to it.

I use the blender (for uncook rice before cooking the congee) (for cooked meat or veg mix with the congee before serve). The congee is more fine, the baby can taste the meat as well.

Hope it helps.

I don't know if what I make is too bland, without taste, I use one corn to make corn juice and put it in the cereal for him, he could eat as much as when I put milk in it. How much meat and vegetable do you put in? What is the ratio to your congee?

My son was the same before. When I tried fed him cereal and congee (with fish), he cried and refused to eat. Then I give up congee first and just fed him brown rice of Healthy Times which is sugar free, again he refused. Then I tried to mix it up with the formula milk and he can finish it all but during the process he was grumpy too and I found that the reason was he is impatient and he enjoy the way of having milk (ie.sucking) and he doesn't like the texture.

Then I tried to feed him 2oz of formula milk first so he has no feeling of hungry then feed him 5 spoons of cereal and lastly 2 oz of formula milk...BINGO. He didn't lose temper at all.

Once he get used to the texture of it, I tried cognee but this time I don't put fish but conpoy and pork instead. Since we can't add any salt in the congee if baby below 1 year old so I think conpoy is good for preparing congee. He likes it very much and now everytime when I prepare congee, conpoy is the basic ingredient and now my son has tried fish, spinash already and he can finish a big bowl on each meal.

Hope my experience help..
