Dear All Well Covered Parents

After securing a new Rental Apartment Unit and while tidying up things for the coming relocation, I've recovered an Important Letter received more than 3 months ago!

(It was so Important that I'd put it in a Secret Place - so Secret that I couldn't find it for sometime!)

It's a Letter from the Australian Government, advising us to consider taking out PHI for More Choices.

And if I do so WITHIN 12 Months of being registered as Eligible for Medicare, I'm entitled to at least 20% Discount (very likely to be 28% Discount) on the Premium.

Since we relocated to Sunshine Coast from NZ last year, the 12-Month Deadline ends 16TH of THIS MONTH!

I'm now rushing to check the website,

www.privatehealth.gov.au

But, suddenly realising some Well Planned Parents may have already taken PHI.

Would any parent be kind enough to share with me the Tips in chosing a PHI or what their current Service Provider is?

Survey

Dear All Again

I think it is a good idea to share with you lot with my little survey, conducted before I chosed my Private Health Insurance Provider.

I had spoken to a total of 9 Persons. 8 Females and 1 Male.

3 Chinese Females from BK's Australian Parents' Club.
3 Females from my Boys' Schools.
1 Chinese Female Doctor Friend practising in Melbourne
1 Female from my Boy's Previous School
1 Male from my Boys' School Books Supplier

3 - Medibank
2 - MBF
1 - HBA
1 - Teachers' Union
1 - Didn't think she needed one (even though she had 4 children!!)
1 - Didn't take any as she believed her employer bought one for her.

And I finally chose HCF as its package suit our Present needs MORE.

Getting Better

Hi Devlin Mum

Thanks for your Concern and I've passed on your regards to my Boss!

Mrs Fate is definitely better now - she goes back to her rountine : light cooking, light cleaning and of course, light shouting at............me!!

Still, we're most likely to have an operation in the near future rather than waiting for the bomb to explode. The only difference is whether to have it done here in Australia or in HK.

We've got some great responses from our friends in HK, regarding HK doctors and the cost of operation. I even got a cost table from St. Teresa's (Private) Hospital in HK!!! (Still waiting the reply from two other HK private hospitals, Evangel and Baptist)

Trust that the Car Show in Brisbane worths Waiting too!

She wanted to be Alone

Hi namammy

My wife was a Nurse, so she didn't like our two young boys to be with her in the Emergency, because she knew from Experience,

There are some Super Bugs hanging around in hospitals and the last thing she wants is our boys being infected;

There would be a 2-3 hour wait because although she was in Great Pain, she was NOT in a Life Threatening Situation.

So, Mrs Fate instructed me to drop her off at the Emergency Entrance and then slowly walking into the Reception Alone - An Iron Lady!! (Reminding me the famous "Shadow of a Back" written by Chu Chi-ching)

She also ordered me to take the boys for fun rather than being stuck in a boring hospital! So, I then took my boys to their school to have som fun - all these climbing trees, digging holes, swining in the monkey bars, building castles in the sandpit etc. etc!!

The Indian Doctor seeing my wife was the Principal Medical Officer and was very kind. He, however, did NOT think Mrs Fate needs an operation! But as part of the standard procedure, he had to refer my wife to the Surgeon for further investigation.

Mrs Fate is getting much better now after taking the anti-biotics - I can hear her shouting at the boys to behave themselves as usual!!

Another Twist

Just like people Get Used To overspend on Credit Card!

Just like my boys Get Used To fight each other!

Just like we're Get Used To being bullied by our Boss!

But Mrs Fate does NOT Get Use To the Severe Pain.

So, I rushed her to the Emergency this morning, where she was waited for 2 1/2 hours ONLY before being seen by the Principal Medical Officer, who then deicided to give my wife a I V Drip.

It was not a good feeling when being in a hospital for so many hours, especially when one has NOT have her breakfast!

The PMO stated the Surgeon will call us in about a week time. My wife was then discharged and being given a presciption for anti-biotics.

There is always something Unexpected happen.

But this time, one thing is Expected to happen,

We're to be in our new apartment unit the coming Friday!

Hi Fate,

Hope all is well.

It is quite true that I like many others are somehow, without knowing, are addicted to computer and it has basically gone into my daily living. The first few days without computer/internet access at my parents were VERY painful. But afterward it was OK and even start enjoying the peace and quiet. So it was indeed a true relaxing holiday!

Running Around

Good Morning Devlin Mum

That's exactly what we've been doing this morning after dropping off our boys at school! Running Around!!

The other one is worse - not available until 6 Dec!!

The third one - we couldn't even locate his Surgery, as he'll come down to the local private hospital only if he's on demand.

As such, we're back to Square 1 - went back to the first Surgeon and booked an appointment - now it's 26 Nov instead of 23 Nov!

Still, my wife has been contacting her Nursing Friends in HK, enquiry about the possibility in having it done in HK - so that we can still proceed with our initial plan of visiting HK from early Dec!

Thanks for your Concern.

Hi Devlin Mum

In a way, yes. My younger boy is Allergic to Feathers!

Also, because of our previous professions, my wife and I had seen/been aware of many incidents involving dogs, whereby they caused serious injuries even to their owners.

We're not suggesting that EVERY dog is like this, but we are kind of very mindful of the "Animals' Instinct".

Meanwhile, we're kind of Stuck at the moment.

Mrs Fate saw the GP earlier today, who wrote her a Referral Letter, enabling her to consult a Surgeon regarding the Appendicetomy.

But, when I rang the private hospital, the earliest time for an appointment to see (just seeing NOT having the operation!) a Surgeon is 23 Nov!!!

Since we were initially thinking about visiting HK in early Dec and now our recently purchased PHI confirms NOT covering this, we may as well go ahead with our initial plan and have the Appendicetomy done in HK!!

We'll re-examine the options again tomorrow.

Yes, it's nice to know the Bottom of the Problem - which is at the Bottom of the Intestine!

Mrs Fate is very busy now in packing things as we're to move into a new apartment unit next Friday, even though it is also a fully furnished one!!

Yes, do come to Sunshine Coast and enjoy!
Enjoy the holiday Mood, enjoy the Beaches!

You must be very well off - we can't afford a dog!

And I'm not sure if Underwater World wil let your dog in - just in case it gets too excited and may be......too hungry!

Brible Island, a good idea - I never set my foot on it.

See how the Future unfolds - to be in HK or to stay in Australia for the Summer holiday.

Either way, we're Happy as long as our boys are Happy!

So, you have been enjoying some Tranquility - a Quieter Life without Computer!

And I suppose it is quite True in some sense, as this serves a Blunt Reminder of the need to have a Better and Healthier Lifestyle, the need to be with our Loved Ones More Often etc.

Mrs Fate is already quite good now - I can tell when she starts shouting as she normally does!

Yes, you're right, the last time we're in HK for the Chinese New Year was back in 2005 - when we're staying at the Salisbury YMCA in TST, enjoying this Firework Display at its rooptop!!

Our boys love the Chinese New Year, as they know they will be instantly richer with all these "Lai See" coming from all directions!!
