She always asks me for $100 per day to the market. Mainly for dinner. We have 5 adult (include her) and one child and one BB. I know nowadays everything is very expensive. But, is it normal? Can anyone tell me because I don't have many experience to go to market.
The food in wet market is much more expensive than before. I always go to the wet market with my maid, so I am sure my maid cannot treat me.
If i buy bones for the soup or ribs, they usually cost me $30. If I buy a fish, it usually costs me $20 to $40 depends on which type of fish i buy. If I buy fresh chicken legs, they cost $5X-$6X for 4. I usually use $80-$100 per day for 3 dishes excluding rice, sugar, sauces etc.

Thanks all BK mama. I think it's reasonable for $100 per day. But, mainly she only buys freash food such as veggie and meet and egg. I buy frozen food such as chicken wing, fish ball. And, rice, o ...
There is no limit to my maid but requests 2 dishes plus one soup everyday for 3 adults (including maid) plus one child. She needs to prepare the lunch for my child and herself as well. Normally, she will use around $30-$70, depends what she needs to cook on that day.
She needs to list out all things she bought on that day for spot check.
We will go together to Supermarket to buy the grocrey, necessities and frozen foods such like Chicken, Chicken Wing, Shrimp, fish ball....etc
I will let her to go to the wet market to buy veggie, fish and fruit but all porks need to buy from Supermarket.
So, it is hard to say $100 per day is reasonable or not, depends what you need to buy but also anythings are using from the home, e.g. mushroom.
some item is buy for stock and we use some stock at home for tonite's dinner:
babycorn and oak fried beef($25)
winter melon salty egg pork soup($18)
you see only one soup+one dish already cost $43, plus watermelon for desert, our family, 3 adults plus 16months baby, already use up $63, yet not count the maid's breakfast and lunch.
and we are living in the old district which the price of wet market already very low.
Thanks all BK mama. I think it's reasonable for $100 per day. But, mainly she only buys freash food such as veggie and meet and egg. I buy frozen food such as chicken wing, fish ball. And, rice, oil, salt, sugar .......
I will give $70-80 per day (2 adults+maid). $100 is not enough for 5 adults+1 child if boil soup. Soup is very costly (because the big bowl of soup needs more meat to boil).
If I go to supermarket (Taste) and cook myself, i buy $100-120 grocery just for 2 dishes ($20 beef+$12 veges, $40 salmon fish) and a soup ($20 meat + $20 soup pack). Meat nowadays is super expensive, can only get a small slice for $15.
$100 is quite reasonable, think of it, 7ppl have dinner and her lunch(instant noodles?)and BB congee, right?
how abt her breakfast(bread?) and fruit?
if it's all inclusive, trust me she's fine enough.
for ur reference, mine is 3 adults(included her)plus one 16 months baby, mainly I am doing the marketing, food+bread+fruitit everyday cost abt $60-80 for my family.
We have total 3 adults & two children (including my maid).
For me, I usualy give her abot $500 per
week on Monday, then asked her to
mark down what/where/how much she bought, thus I can check whether
she's "打斧頭" or not.
