Do you think that phonics materials are very similar in contents actually? 萬變不離其終！I think I won't try other programme but rather develop a plan to teach my kid. I appreciate the Frontline Phonics points re teaching M.A.P.S.T -those common letters first..etc. Seem very sensible points. Therefore, I will take out the M A P S T books from my Alphatales first.

My son's kinder also does not follow the alphabet sequence in teaching.....

Your son has been studied letterland for a long time. Why do you want to switch to hooked on phoncs ?

Long time no chat la!! How's your daughter?

Yes, my son is studying Letterland at the moment and the progress is satisfactory cos he can now blend many words.

Actually I welcome all educational materials which are good and it does not mean I switch to other phonics program (cos I will not stick to a single program ma!! )

For myself, I'm now studying Phonetics organised by International Phoenetic Association. Will also consider to let my son learn IPA 2 years later when he proceeds to P1. So that he can know the sound of words by looking up the Phonetic symbols in dictionary.

Remember I once (during my SF trip) said I saw some Phonics set in Costco but quite expensive so I didn't buy?? I thnk that was on 6 Aug.

It is the [size=x-large]"Hooked on Phonics" set, selling for about $139.90 + tax. There is also "Hooked on Maths" at same price.

If you really want these 2 sets, get somebody in SF to buy for you !!! Location is Costco (Serramonte).

I haven't bought any ORT yet - a lot of unread purchases already. But I agree that ORT is a good set of books. Which is why I bought the Magic Key VCDs.

I think, in UK, that the schools buy ORT/OST so it doesn't look / sound as expensive as when we try to buy them for our personal library.

So your son must smooch me again next time we meet.
