My son stepped on the Baby Einstein VCD on X'mas this afternoon. Luckily, it is a DD version. Only RMB 27 or less... :-( :-( :-(

btw, I've got 4 Leapfrog DVDs at home:

1. Letter Factory - introduce the sound of each letter followed by a catchy & funny song

2. Talking Words Factory - focus on word construction, rhyming and vocabulary (i.e. introduce word blending)

3. Talking Words Factory 2 : Code word caper - introduce more complex blending and phonics rule
e.g. silent "e", consonant blend (sh/wh/ch), sound of 2 vowels together (when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking), and the sound of word change when an "e" is being put at the end of a word (e.g. tin vs tine; fin vs fine; bit vs bite etc).

4. Math Circus - introduce baisc addition and subtraction math concept.

Actually I found all 4 DVDs are good and my son loves all of them. But I love item 3 (code word caper) most cos it makes easy some complicated phonics rules/concept by way of interesting stories.

If your kid has already known the letter sound, item 1 may be too simple. You may consider item 2 and 3 la!

LF DVD price is around US$11 excl shipping and handling charge at amazon.

You may search more info from www.amazon.com.

Just need to type "Leapfrog DVD" at the search field and all info will be displayed.

btw, you may visit Stepping Stones which also sell LF DVD, but the price is more expensive (at around $180~$200). As all DVD/VCD/CD/VHS are now on sale there, 20% discount is offered.


I've no idea on LF books la.

Dear all shopaholics,
Have you ever come across a product called ‘Hyla’, which is like a vacuum cleaner with water-bath filtration system. The other brand name of similar product is ‘Rainbow’. A demonstration was conducted at my home last Sunday. It claims that it is much better than conventional vacuum cleaners as it can remove the bugs at our mattress. Other applications are air cleaning & purification, disinfect, deodorize, vacuum, blow and wet cleaning. The demonstrator showed me a list of hotels in Hong Kong which are using this product and he said that Hong Kong Disneyland also using it. We are quite impressed of the product as the dirty things it collected in the water bath is very very much yucky. Our concern is mostly of its cost and is there other better product available. It is very expensive (around $18000). Do you currently own one and could you give me your opinions and comments, please?

Sorry, I know it is a bit off track. Since I know you all are wise consumers ma and I really want to get some advices before making the decision. Yes, Hyla also does not need any filters and it claims that it provides 10 years warranty. Did you do the comparsion before when you purchase rainbow?

I've got Osim Mermaid Water-based system which also needs water to operate. I usually add some fragrance (water solvent) to the water so that favourable smell can be produced during vacuum.

I remembered it's price is just around several thousand, much cheaper than Rainbow and Hyla. But I'm not sure whether such large price gap justify their performance la.
