That's the point. E.g. if you take maternity leave till Sept 28, then, originally, you need to return to office on Sept 29, however, since Sept 29 and Oct 1 are public holidays, so, if you take one more day Sept 30 as your personal vacation, then, you can rest for 5 more days, i.e. Sept 29 - Oct 3.
