What is W-F-T??

Hi kittylock, evelyn317,

I think it's a hardcover book (32 pages) teaching the facts of how body works through the interesting rhymes and sing-along songs CD.

[copied from Amazon]

Young children will discover how their bodies work when they read and sing along with fun and fact-filled songs.

How many bones are in each of your feet?
What are the five senses?
Where is the gluteus maximus?
Why do we pass gas?

The lyrics are catchy, here is an example:

Your brain keeps sending messages right out,
Tells you to be quiet, and tells you when to shout,
Tells you when you're happy, tells you when you're sad,
Tells you when you're feeling hot or cold or hurting bad.

kittylock,

So, does your kid wake up late too? I am thinking of either:

(1) make him sleep early, wake up early. A little nap before school. Nap again after school

or

(2) your approach, let him sleep late, wake up late, nap after school, then dinner, ....sleep again.

hi, kittylock,

I don't really think so ah. That book "A squash and A squeeze" is marked as HK$73 (Sterling 4.99). Only when they have discount now (till end Sept), it will be quite an okay price. After that, not particularly cheap if you have bookbucks at pottyfield OR 20% off in MyDear OR even 60%-50% off at kmk.

However, if you join courses, then you can get some discount in book purchase and future course enrolment.

I only see 1000- 0 - 1 copy of that. I did not buy. I bought the Chinese version from mainland. Already good enough.

Do have a look after work. They close at 7pm Tue-Fri, close every Mon, open till 6pm on Sat-Sun.

Re: 分享外國 或 台灣童書 (1-8歲適用) 收穫

Saw this one about father and son.

[size=small]My father is a Giant!

by Carl Norac, Ingrid Godon (Illustrator)

In the opening illustration, the child clings to his father's back and both face readers, smiling. Ensuing pages show them engaged in a variety of activities. When they play hide-and-seek, the child reports, "My daddy has to hide behind a mountain"; the illustration shows the father kneeling behind snow-capped conical shapes. On another spread they walk on pale sandy ground against a white sky, and when the father sneezes, "It's like a hurricane. It blows the sea away." In the bottom right corner, a crab, starfish and fish jump from turbulent waves, while pickets blow off a nearby fence. While the words convey the child's belief that daddy possesses extraordinary powers, the pictures demonstrate that daddy's true strength derives from his consistent, loving involvement in his child's life, whether cuddling, playing games or just being there. Children may enjoy this story's gentle humor best from the warmth of Daddy's lap. Ages 3-6.

Quite a new book.

Teeth Are Not for Biting

Book Description
TEETH ARE NOT FOR BITING Board Book by Elizabeth Verdick, illustrated by Marieka Heinlen. "Crunch crunch crunch. Teeth are strong and sharp. Crunch crunch crunch. Teeth can help you chew. But teeth are not for biting. Ouch! Biting hurts." Sooner or later, almost all young children will bite someone—a friend, a parent, a sibling. This upbeat, colorful, virtually indestructible book helps prevent biting and teaches positive alternatives.

Teeth Are Not for Biting is the winner of the 2004 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award, Dr. Toy's 100 Best Products for 2003 and one of Dr. Toy's 10 Best Socially Responsible Products for 2003.

Hands Are Not for Hitting

Review from School Library Journal

PreS-Gr 1-This title offers youngsters an alternative to hitting and other forms of hurtful behavior, guiding them to a more peaceful and positive outcome in their dealings with other children. The refrain that "hands are not for hitting" is accompanied by numerous better uses for them, such as waving, helping, drawing, and making music. While the text is didactic and too redundant to be read aloud cover to cover, the book provides an important point of departure for discussing constructive ways of coping with and resolving strong feelings such as anger, jealousy, and fear. Friendly, colorful illustrations portray children engaged in various positive activities. An extensive list of supportive ideas for grown-ups interested in promoting nonviolence is included.-Teri Markson, Stephen S. Wise Temple Elementary School, Los Angeles

Hands Are Not for Hitting Board Book has won Dr. Toy's "100 Best" and "10 Best Socially Responsible Products"; Oppenheim Portfolio's "latnum Award" and "Special Needs Award"; and iParenting Media's "Best Products for 2004".

Feet Are Not for Kicking

Review from School Library Journal
PreS–While the opening lines–"Look at those feet! Aren't they sweet?"–promise an upbeat concept book, this companion to Teeth Are Not for Biting (2003) and Words Are Not for Hurting (2004, both Free Spirit) quickly turns didactic. After covering what feet are used for (walking, standing, leaping, landing, etc.), the text states, "Feet are not for kicking people. Ouch! Kicking hurts." Suggestions follow for what can be kicked (balls, leaves) and what to do if kicked. The colorful, bold illustrations featuring multiethnic children strain to make this instructive guide lighthearted and lively, but they don't succeed.–Andrea Tarr, Corona Public Library, CA

The 1st & 2nd titles won a lot of awards gar, should be very good

Re: 分享外國 或 台灣童書 (1-8歲適用) 收穫

hello Gloria,

Are you looking for book about father & son, i got 2 titles are quite good:

Daddy and me
by Karen Katz

Daddy and Me tells its tale with a simple setup and sturdy flaps to lift on each two-page spread: "I'm helping Dad make something special. First we saw the wood. Where is Daddy's saw?" Two easy-to-grab flaps open to reveal that Daddy's saw is "In the... closet." Pencils, nails, screwdrivers, and a paintbrush are likewise hiding out around the shop, and it's up to Daddy's cherubic, gender-indeterminate little helper to track them down--with some help from the reader, of course, lifting up work gloves, a tool box lid, some paint cans, and a newspaper.

We finally find out what project Daddy had planned (which also explains why a cute chestnut puppy has been helping the helper all along): "At last we are finished. We made a doghouse for Henry! But where is Henry?" Readers get to lift one more flap to find out. (Baby to preschool) --Paul Hughes

Daddy Hugs 1 2 3
by Karen Katz

Review from School Library Journal
PreS–A father counts his way through a typical day with his baby, from "one â?˜I'm so glad you're my baby!' hug" in the morning to 10 affectionate hugs before bed. Along the way there are boo-boos to be kissed, first steps, and games of peek-a-boo. Throughout the day, a brown cat in the background mirrors the actions and expressions of the child. Though Daddy Hugs is presented as a counting book, it doesn't really work in that role. Numerals appear at the top of each spread, but there are no countable objects to reinforce the concept (aside from the small, extraneous purple asterisks that appear near each number). Done in gouache, colored pencil, and collage, the illustrations are made up of Katz's signature patterned objects and cutesy round-headed figures. There is nothing that stands out about this title; consider purchasing it only if you need more stories about a father-child bond.– Rachael Vilmar, Atlanta Fulton Public Library, GA
