Hi Chau.a,

Welcome! It is nice to meet you. For your reference, I used Asian Express to ship my belongings over here over one and a half years ago. From packing -> shipping->delivery to my home. It went very smooth. I had nothing to complaint. Their customer service at both ends were also good as well. You may want to try and get a quote and see if it could be one your options.

I lived in the South (hurstville) so not similar with the North side so i am afraid can not able to give advice you on that. However, despite location,the childcare is usually very full so it is advise to put on waiting list asap.

I migrated here in March this year. I am using Speedway, a small company, not very cheap, but quite flexible, responsive and helpful. I packed everything just before CNY (2nd week of Feb) and was able to have my delivery in 5 weeks time.

I just opened a overseas account in HSBC. They are really good service. And told me that the ETC card can withdraw cash from any HSBC and Commonwealth ETC machine without any charge. That's good because I don't need to worry about little HSBC branches in Sydney.

My Husband will goto Sydney to settle down in this monthend. I feel so exciting and the times seem goes so fast. I still have many things need to prepare.....

I started to buy things that I guess they are expensive in aus. Any suggestion can give to me that things are MUST buy from HK?

Heard that the weather is so cold in sydney. Keep warm and take care.

If you are now thinking of what to put into the containers, In view of the high currency here right now, I would suggest you could consider bringing EVERYTHING over. even sewing and needles sets! It is good that your husband will come over first and I am sure he would tell you the same thing after arriving

Food wise, except those traditional chinese dry foods, for daily consumptions such as salts, sauces and istand noodles, it is better to leave it.

The shipping agent will give you advise & tips for appropriate packing. They are experience with it and also they wouldn't want to deal with the customs either.

We've considered shipping our car over as well. (even though at the end we did not) The agent did said it is less expensive than buy one over here. Ask them to give you a quote and perhaps make a comparison before deciding.

I felt your excitment! This place is very good for children and family life.......you will like the fresh air as soon as arriving.

In hong Kong, really hot in these few days. Can't breath without aircondition. And my family have no more outdoor activities except swimming.

One of the things i have to buy from Hong Kong is plastic gloves for washing and cleaning. The smallest size here still too loose for me. Only the smallest size that i brought from Hong Kong fits. Tempo is very expensive here. I bought a fair bit from HK as it's frequently run out in my family. Plugs and wires are also cheaper in HK. Actually, if you familiar buying electrical parts in Shamshuipo will get shock by the cost over here!

If there are anything more specific pops up in my mind, I will let you know

There is nothing major happaning in Australia during that time so I suspect its due to the summer holiday in Hong kong that makes the tickets so intense. My niece is paying me a visit next month and she is on the waiting list on 1-2 Sept as many trying to return HK before the school term start.

We are in our coldest days for many years

What different atmospheres we are living in right now! The common thing though either way we do not prefer to go outside!!
