is primary school life very different? much homework? need more parents' involvement?

Yes. Kid needs to be / MUST be more independent.
No idea about homework yet, 1st 2 days are for adaptation, but of course require a lot more input from both kids and parents than KG/Nursery. My son's day nursery had minimal homework.
10+ school circulars yesterday, need to reply next Monday. So a lot more involvement from parents.
Girls are usually better than boys in facing P1.

I found 3 packs of schoolbag cover (blue Pochacco) in FW TRUs on Wed and bought all (1 as a spare for my son, 2 for his friends as P1 gifts), + a Thomas drawing apron, buy 3 get 1 (cheapest) free.

Hi Bluestar,

On the first school day, his class teacher called me to ask if my son can understand cantonese!!! My son told the teacher that he was sleepy and didn't want to attend the convocation in the afternoon!!!!
:-( :-( :-(

Every morning we need to wake him up before 6:00a.m. I think he needs time to get use to the new school life.

BTW, my son loves to read/scan through "Andrew Lost" recently. As there are lots of the wonderful and exciting adventures relating to the real science facts.

Gloria, probably you'll love these adventures too. For example, an adventure on the body surface: there are many different tiny bugs on skin, eyebrow, "mites", "flea", "...... (make you feel itcy when you read the stories!!!)

Is that so? Can you share with me what such are? I am also interested in Henry and Mudge (as introduced the other day). They have good ***** at amazon and are in series ah!!

Does your son go to in'tl or local school?

Hv you gone to idxx yet?

Also, noted that there are both chapter books and usual story book of Magic school bus? how are they different? I am curious. I still have not bought as there are just too many words on one page for 2.5 yrs old la.

Actually, there are 3 different sets of Magic School Bus.

1. Magic School Bus - Classic Collection Series
- most expensive, as the marked price per book =>US 5.99 (~$58 /bk in popular bookstore)
- a set of 10 books (written by the original author Joanna Cole)
=> the most popular series out of the 3 different sets
- full of pictures with less words (~ similar to comic books) on every page which is more suitable for younger kids. (quite a lot of information on a page, messy-looking, but most kids love this series.)
