hihi...

Bye Bye...Go to Sleep laaaaa.... :) :) :)

Hi Little_A,

There is story time in Rockdale library too, for younger kids, every Thu at 11pm. It's just within 10 min walk from Rockdale Railway station.

For 淡水魚, I think most of the fresh fish stores only sell 咸水魚. There are some frozen 淡水魚 in Chinese groceries shops along Forest Rd but I don't think it's good.

ngmammy,

Hope you are keeping well.

Hi, as you know, my heart is still with Sydney and that is why I like to read you guys chatting bit by bit, one day, I will be backkkkk :)

Yeah, exactly, HK is extremely hot, in July, we will have like 29 degree Celsius at 7 am and then climb up to 34 degree in the afternoon.

My 2 boys, the older had soccer this morning, 2 days soccer, 1 day swimming, 2 days drawing, 1 day magic, 2 days flute, Creative Writing for 2 and Boy Scout which keep him busy for the entire summer holidays. The younger will have his summer holidays for 2 weeks from the end of Aug till the first week of Sep.

Wow, when you mentioned coldest winter, how cold was it, you might want to go skiing :)

Hi chau.a
I'm also planning to move in Nov 07. I'm so excited to find a companion here. Shall we share our information and do some brainstorming on our TO DO LIST. By the way, have you landed yet? I'm planning to land in Sept 07 and come back for shipping arrangement. Does it make sense?
Are you familiar with Sydney? I found you already chose some district for your settlement. So far I haven't got any idea yet. Would you give me some suggestion?

To all other experienced mom, please give me some advice. Thanks.

Hi ptsamm,

Nice to meet you here. It is a great idea to share our to-do-list. I am now cleaning my home and let's see anything need to pack/throw. And start buying thing like clothes, kitchenware and computer.....etc.

I started to terminated some credit card and bank account that I don't use anymore. And I will cut my life insurance also.

And I requested to withdraw my MPF as I became a fulltime mummy after my little son born. If you are still working, you can do it later. For the taxatation department, I am still checking the procedures.

And want to sell our apartment, but the price is not good.
My hunband asked the interest rate in Aus bank, if time deposit for 6 months can have about 6-7%. It is so high compare with HK. If we can sold our apartment and just put them to the time deposit, then it is a very good return. But not sure how much for the interest tax.

We have some friends and relatives in Sydney so that we want to near them. My husband will goto check the rental of our target places this week. Give you update if I have.

Any experience mummies, please give me more advise if any.

Hi Chelsea,

Haha, it is always good to have you dropping by from time to time! afterall, we may need you to update us on the happening in Hong Kong:mrgreen:

What a fruitful summer for your two boys! How long have been your sons learning flute for? My son is learning Saxophone and currently playing in the school band. He loved it even though the Saxophone weighted twice as much as him!

We did not have plan to go to skiing this year cause my daugther is still too small to go. Hopefully next year.

Cheers.

Hi ptsamm and chau.a,

Interest income is included in income tax so the resulting tax rate may fall in different progressive rate depending on the total income you had.

Just got one reminder is to check if you need a medical report for any treatment(s) you've done before.

If I can think of any, I'll write it down la.

ngmammy,

My son has picked up the flute only this summer and will finish soon as new school term starts on Sep 3.

Recall your son and daughter will have a new school term this month, right, is it expensive for the school text book, it's expensive in Hong Kong, for primary 2, HKD2400 and kindergarten 2 is HKD900.

Thanks Little A

Hi chau.a,
So you've started your crazy shopping already?
I haven't got a quotation from the forwarder yet so I can't made up my mind whether I will send a 20ft container or not. How about you? Got the quotation?
My hubby said if it cost HK$4x,xxx to ship a load, why can't we buy everything in Oz with that some. But I got a piano to ship anyway.

Will you get a lost by cutting the life insurance? I wanna keep it. It should be world wide.

Regarding to tax, you better ask your company to file a 56f form to the IRD. Then you can write a letter to IRD with the 56f to holdover the provisional tax 2007/2008.

Regarding to the apartment, you can authorise a person to sign the assignment on your behalf if you can't sell it before you leave. Check with your lawyer.

I also concern about the interest tax. So may be I will set up an infra structure for money transfer between HK and Oz. Any bank recommend?

I'm also considering Epping for my settlement. How do you find it? Is it convenient? how's the neighbourhood? Oh, have you ever mentioned how old is your kid? I need to find a childcare for my 2.5 old girl.

Hi ptsamm,

I started shopping but not crazy, heehee...
And we also haven't got the quotation, we plan to do it next month and I want to pack/ship my stuff at around mid of Nov. My husband siad everything in Aus are expensive, so maybe we will but some more things like funiture and electronic appliances.

My life insurance mainly is term life and little portion in accident and saving. So should be not much losing.

About the apartment my husband said if we sell it after we leave, the profit of the selling price need to pay tax to Aus government say almost 40% as the resident tax rate. Actually the current price of my apartment is just sightly higher than our purchase price , still cannot cover the interest. So we want to sell it before we leave.

We opened a oz account through HSBC. Very good service and informative. Office at 6/F HSBC Building Central. Before go, need to make appointment first. Can transfer money between HK and OZ without charge if using internet banking.

I heard that Epping is a good and convenient subturb. Eastwood seem to have more chinese shops. And carlinford and marsfield rental seem to cheaper compare with epping/eastwood (I guess it is because of no railway station). We also feel difficult to make decision. But for appling kindergarten, we may consider Epping/Eastwood.

I have 2 boys, big one is 5 years old and small one is 13 months. For the big one, I am not worry about the school, because the school said if we can have address proven then they must have a place for him. But for the little one, I am quite worry about it is difficult to get a place in a good childcare.

I still haven't tell my helper that we are going to leave. I feel scare that can I handle 2 boys without her help.

Hi chua.a ,
Thank you for your information.

Are you sure we need to pay tax on capital gain outside Oz? It is a shock on me.

Oh dear, two boys! you have to take care of them all by your own when you move to Oz. What a supermum!
So have you enroll your elder son in a Kinder in HK for the coming Sept?

I paid all fees for my girl's pre-nursery but I think she can only attend two months.

Hi ptsamm,

Actually I am not sure about the tax and just heard from my husband said.

Yes, I feel very tired to take care of 2 boys. Specially the small one start learn to walk and always non stop walking. Now we have helper to help, I can't imagine how can I handle them without her. My big boy will not attend school after sep and I will let him have some interest classes, like playgroup, spanish, drawing, gym or music class etc.

Did you start shopping and packing?
