Nin hao! My son turns to 3 1/2 and started to read English books on his own since July.

He does not like Math and I would like to know if you can refer any good book/program for preschool Math?

What type of English books are your son reading independently? Really impressive progress wor.

Wonder why he start to read English books instead of Chinese ones on his own coz I think you should have more Chinese resources on hands ma.

I am no expert re Math program/book (neither in any other aspects!). Only know a few book sets introduced by FXPC and kittylock here:

I found Mathstart is quite good in explaining mathematical concept to kids.

There're altogether 3 levels in Mathstart series, and each level has around 20 books.

As your son is now 3.5 year, think Level 1 (for age 3 or up) suits him best. fyi, Level 1 has the following titles:

Have you play the 智多Fun with your son yet? Any comments? The "logico" & "智多Fun" looks similar stuff, but i don't know which one suits my son or better than the other? I called the SADirxxx a few days after the bookfair,the sales could not really explain the difference between them, only told me "logico" has 35 bks & "智多Fun" has 13, and both of them are very good & many schools are using them and bla bla... v hardsell

As I have too much stuff at home, so I still have not yet started to play "智多Fun" la.

Actually I've also got mainland Logical at home.

Just my impression, as your son is now 5 years old, so I think "智多Fun" may be more suitable cos I found this set is divided into Eng/Chin/Math/Logical thinking which content seems more academic-wise. So it may help to certain extent when he promotes to P1

尋日上idxx攞vip card, 結果又忍唔住買咗d (我老公個樣重好濃, 因為佢已經明白, 我上親呢度, 就一定唔捨得咁快走, )

Hi Gloria & Kitty,

My son is taking a Chinese Reading Course, it guarantee he can learn 300-400 Chinese after the program. We are using a US phonics-base reading program at home, 15 mins/day, it works very well on him and I'm happy on the progress. He knows blending; I also teach him sight words so he can read the Level 1 of Ready Readers. (PS: I have tried Jolly Phonics but it does not work on him-too complicated for small kids) I don't have time to prepare learning/teaching material so I prefer to go for a complete program which provides everything. Actually, I have planned to order a Math program from US (expensive US$350) but want to see if you people have any good & cheaper recommendation.

Is that Chinese Reading course called Z-J----? My sister in BJ said that even the Monterserri School had suspended the programme after some enthusiatic trials.

If you are interested to find Maths programs, there are quite some available in TW. But, equally dear as the $$ you quoted!! Even the sales said that such programme is more intended for school than domestic use. So, you may think twice before buying such a big set. May rely more on school and play more maths game at home instead. Just my little thinking only.
