Thanks for your concern. It is really a hard time for me. I am finding a local helper to help us 2-3 months but not yet found. I have informed the immigration, but they don't have a black list, just only terminated our contract.

We are applying Eastwood Public for my elder son. My husband met the school principle and she is very nice person and introduced the school in detail.

About the immunisation certificate, we also feel headache, because for my elder son have at least 3 more injections need to take as the different between OZ and HK injection schedule.

We plan to stay for around 3 weeks (14 Dec - 5 Jan) but it hits the Christmas and New Year, would that be a bit troublesome?

For the learner's licence. did I need to "study" to pass?

You mentioned about public school and private school, what are the preference of local people? are the schools like those in HK that private and direct subsidies are more preferred? Is there any school that also offer chinese and mandarin?

I have taken a look at the NSW public school website and found so many schools.... any hints on how to pick one?

If I need address proof fo applying the school, is it i can only apply after I rent a house or really land? or if I have friends/relatives, can I borrow their address for early application? FOr me, I prefer to confirm there is a school place before I really land in Australia as I got to give up the current school place in HK.

My approved visa did not mention the condition (2 or 4 out of the 5 yrs) but I read from the websites, it seems (not sure) that to apply for citizenship and a Return visa, I need to be 2 years PR. How I can have this confirmed?

. Mine are currently studying at Hurstville public.

My daughter too have three that was left for injection too. We got it done here (while we visit for getting my daughter's immunisation record). She did the three needles the same time, one lollie for one injection. She did it without an ouch

It is a bit of a problem for that period of time. The workers are in the holiday mood as soon as stepping into the month of Dec...and they are already not that efficient on the NORMAL days!

If that is the case, you may want to concentrate on looking at districts and school for later settling first then.

Haha, yes you do need to study for the written test but mostly are common sense.:-P

Public vs Private.....always a controversal questions in any countries. I guess the perception of public vs private is similar to that in Hong Kong....better education, better discipline, better social crowds/connection. I do not tend to disagree. But to me, at a primary level, I just wanted my children to be in a school that provide good teaching quality that guide them to be a loving and confident person, to be what they wanted to be, have fun to learn and learn to have fun while in a safe and discipline environment. I found some public school could well serve that as well. My two children currently are studying under public school scheme.

So I guess the preference of choosing public vs private is very subjective to each parent's values and beliefs as well as comfort level.

Don't worry. Before I was having the same puzzliness about looking at school information too. Unlike in HK, here are so many districts and so many schools!! I found nowhere to start as well. Do you have any relatives or close friends here that you intend to live close by? that could scope down your shopping school lists.

Below are two private girl schools that have good reputation. You may want to take as a reference.

My understanding is that from 1st July 2007, one of the legistration law has changed as "changes the residence requirement for most citizenship applicants to four years lawful residence immediately before making an application"

My guessing is that yours could still be two years as your application should have been submitted before that day. You may want to ask the immigration office in HK based on your approval visa for confirmation.

How are you? I have been in Beverly Hills several times and all is for dinner as there is a street of restaraunts at the main road.

I am imagine how happy your daughter would be to have his Daddy coming home for her birthday party. Have your daughters been visiting you in Sydney yet? I have my niece visited us during her summer holiday and just returned HK for new year school term. She was having such a good time. Who wouldn't if you could PLAY the whole time for a holiday trip!:lol:

Of course BK Dad is welcome as well! That reminded me I should have change the heading of this topic to "parents" instead of "mums".

Sounds like you are making the good use of your time during your mission period! I've once thought of studying law cause I thought I am good at debating with my husband

. But in reality, I am having difficulty to talk my son into making his bed every morning!

We will be going back to HK for a holiday end of the year and also plan to revisit Disneyland Hong Kong again. We are also looking at staying overnight there too. Looking forward to it.

Are you intend to stay in Aus until "sing the song"? I am always curious whether an applicant can leave the country once the application is in process and just come back for the ceremony or the applicant must stay until then? My husband would be in his 2 years by next May.

I've recieved the photos. It seems such a joyful party with all kids playing in the ball pool and slides! Jayden looked so happy on his very first year birthday party! Turn out you really did make the right choice of picking the party venue. Food looks yummy too. Is the catering included?

Dear all moms and dads,

May I have some advice on which residential districts I should take a look on my coming trip to Australia?

I am currently living in a "rural" part of Tai Po, coz we like it's better air, less traffic - the best is no traffic noise even at night. It's also within walking distance from the KCR and we have access to supermarkets/doctors/dispensaries and market on a 10-min minibus ride (though minibuses are not so frequent). Also immediately next to us is a big park where kids can bike and we can jog around. If we want something similar, which districts should we visit?

We plan to rent, and hope that rent would not be too high as we are not sure when we can find a job.

Also we want one that has good school net and of course safe for small children.

Jayden has so so so much fun at the party, and all the babies and kids are so happy too, they all enjoy the playground, food and the gift from Jayden :-P

I have order the catering from the cafe there.... not bad~~ all mummy and daddy said good food wor hehehehe...... I like the kid meal.. yummy~~~
