Charlotte is studying K2 at a mandarin kindy in North Point, guess u know which one. I am worrying for her re primary school. She can't get into her big bro's school cos it's a boys' school! I'll be very happy if she gets into Marymount by lucky draw as it's near where we live, but can't rely on luck. Of course SPX is better :) Yep, these 2 weeks are final exam time. Has Kv finished all exams already?

I can't believe a boy leaves a school for another in May! Which school will accept him? International? Well, mistakes on test / exam paper happen in every school. I asked myself not to be so "chub-cheuk" as a compromise cos our kids watch how we deal with situations.

I am curious to see your collection of Lego!!!! Better shield my son from yours :) as he's been asking me for those > $699 or above. Those small ones in $2xx to $3xx are not of interest anymore!

Well that kid is an Indian girl, good academic results, mum very anxious and concerned with good teaching. So she could not stand the numerous mistakes, nor the P's attitude, so opted out.

Our circulars were open to public view up to last year. No longer avail now to outsiders. But such a lot of grammatical mistakes (cannot classify them as errors - to me mistakes are worse than errors). I often have the urge to correct them in red then mail them back to P. Seems that a lot of parents share this urge.

You should understand the human logic to have subornates who are inferior to you in all ways. So you should know what I mean.

A symptom that he is growing up, more sophisticated tastes, chooses the best. (Positive thinking) haha !

Good taste???? I shall take him to see the poor!Want to ask u a question. Have u studied Lego Mindstorms for piglet? What age is good to start? I sent my son to a free trial in Central recently & he liked it. But it's very $$$$$$$. I wonder how many parents will send their kids to that place. Last year I stopped by a booth in Book Fair which did such courses for kids during weekends in an office in Central run by some teckie, but I lost their contacts. Any such info? I think Roboedu in TST is more for smaller kids.

Is Charlotte's kindy called "so-chxt"?

Kv is going to take the final assessment next week. He's happy cos he can leave school at 11am during exam period.

Regarding the Lego workshop in Central, would you pls tell what's its name or its website. I may let Kv to have trail lesson (free?) after exam.

Have you ever heard of LEAD (Learning Through Engineering, Art and Design)?

They've got summer activities about mechanics and engineering etc.

Donno the problem but I failed to login here at home. I'm back from Taiwan, didn't buy that much, no time, not even books, I bought only 6pcs for Jun and 2 for myself. I nearly bought the lego fireman backpack at the Lego wear shop in TW, but it's too big and I bought another small one. I thought these are not available at HK. Luckily I didn't bought the fireman which is far more expensive then the HK price (it's ~$4xx in TW)

I know that there is a centre called LEAD xxxx run by HK Federation of Youth Groups.
One of the course venues (or maybe the only one) is in Cyberport.

This LEAD Cricket thing is = using Lego bricks to "programme" a Lego CPU to command diff bricks (power, light, sound..)
I think this is the basic theory used in Lego Mindstorm.
Free trials are offered, LSW, Gloria and I attended 1 session which was held in TST Space Museum (they rented the venue).

If you find the course interesting but expensive, can consider to buy the set of Lego Mindstorm, plus the manuals, then DIY under parent supervision. Some schools (mainly secondary schools) buy several sets of Mindstorms (there are diff generations / versions of Mindstorms) then let their students join the Joint Schools 機械人大賽, but the fundamental set is Lego Mindstorm.

You should be able to order the manuals through WiseKxxs, and LSW did some research on the comparison of Mindstorms (CPU part). There is an educational version and a commercial version of Mindstorm. But I am quite confused by the differences and pros and cons of each. Anyway, LSW bought the educational version, KL bought the commercial version.

Educational version : used in the teaching centres. Should be cheapest from the Lego Educational distributor whose name you can find from searching Lego Educational ==> wholesaler of China / HK.
Can check this from Lego Educational website.

Commercial version : you can find this in some water goods shops and Jusco, cheapest is from PTU (teachers' union) but need to pre-order.
Can check this from Lego.com website.

Tks for buying the tea tree products for me. Kv just tried yesterday and he likes it so much. He said the itchy skin is a bit relieved after using.

LEAD is more for 9yo+, so have to wait for next year. A few weeks ago I found HK Science Olympiad & wanted to enrol my son to a 2-day workshop on HK island. But just learned that the venue is closed for booking because of the Swine Flu! All activities have to be run on KLN/NT.

HK Science Olympaid? Would you pls tell me more about this centre? I'm also looking for Olympaid course that held in HK side when Kv is promoted to P3.

Re: LEAD, yes, the courses are more for elder kids. btw, I've enrolled their one day parent-child workshop that use Lego Technology set to build Formula 1.

Thanks for the info on Mindstorm. I looked up Lego website & Mindstorm is meant for 10yo+. Not sure if it's fun to buy for home use w/o supervision. When our kids are older, maybe we can get them together & play together.

Science Olympiad is http://www.hkgso.org/. I looked up a few websites & this one seems ok to me. I have enrolled my son to a Lego class with Caritas on Caine Rd., once a week for 6 wks. May give a pass to LEAD this time. Let's exchange experience later.

The Lego school bag looks cool. However, the existing one my son is using is still in good conditions. So, better save the money. But have to find a bigger one for my daughter. Her existing bag was bought when she was in P1. Already 5 years la...
