I am almost 30 but I still had the down syndrom test because it is free in Toronto. :-P Now, there are 2 kind of tests. 1) MSS: It is older method and have the blood test from 16-18 week. 2) IPS: It is a newer method. 2 blood tests - 1 in 11-14 week and measure the neck skin, 1 in 16-18 week. Result has to be combined by both tests. I had IPS. I will have another blood test in 16 week.
I have worn maternity pants since 2nd month, but I haven't changed bra yet.
My EDC will be on 29 Aug and I'll go to the PW for blood test for 'Downs Sydrome' on 16/2 coz that test require to take out around 14 weeks time. However, it's not free, it costs around $1000... wow ^O^
I make appointments both in private and govt hospitals... both of them are good although I need to wait for abit long time in public hospital.
I still haven't made a solid plan on whether I should deliver in public/private hospital, can anyone give me some advices?
I'm now at around 11 - 12 weeks and have just brought my first two maternity pants... very expensive in HK... can anybody tell me where should I buy these clothes???

Hi all, I am also 8月的準媽媽 (originally, my expected date was July 30/31... yesterday, I visited my doctor and she said it should be Aug 4 due to the size of my baby... don't know why, when I checked at 12th week, both private and public doctors said July 30/31 was correct after the U/S check, however, yesterday, my private doctor said the size is 5 days smaller.... :-( :-( :-( ). Sorry that I don't know how to type chinese... I will look for a "writing pad" later.
I just went to PWH to sign up for the 產前講座 yesterday, they just announced the schedule for March-April. Altogether 7 lessons, free of charge, all on Sat from 9:30-11am. If you need more info about the 產前講座, I could post it here, please let me know.
I signed up PWH for check-up as (i) I can sign up the 產前講座, (ii) if later on I find that the baby's situation is not good, there are more experienced doctors and better machines in public hospitals, also, I don't need to worry about the unexpected expenses. So, I strongly recommend the mothers to check in both private and public hospitals, to give ourselves more options.

I have done the PWH's "唐氏" check at my 12th week. The result was 1/5000. However, since my expected date has just been moved back 5 days, will this affect the earlier "唐氏" check's result?

Remember to bring the appointment slip, that's all. Last time, my booking time was 2:15pm, I submitted the slip at the reception, and the nurse asked me to take the blood pressure and body temperature at the "observation room". Then, the nurse asked me to wait outside room #13. At around 2:45pm, a nurse took me to a small room, asked a few questions about health and family, explained how to pay the fee (HK$950 at another building, accept visa card), then, she took a few small bottles of my blood. This took around 10 min. Then, she asked me to wait outside room #12 to wait for the doctor and the U/S. I have the U/S check by an experienced doctor and a student doctor for around 15 min, the experienced doctor was very kind, he showed me the structure of the baby and explained the different parts, he also asked me whether I was interested in knowing the sex of the baby. I was only at 12th week and he was able to tell me that it should be a gal for 80% probability. I finished the U/S check at around 3:15pm and then, I went to pay the fee (very far away) as the report will only be ready around 1 hour after the U/S. I have my report ready at around 4:30pm and a nurse explained the result to me... I left at around 4:45pm and was very very tired and hungry...
My appointment in PW will be @ 9:00am, I think it must be great that I can meet another mum-to-be who will labour in the same month as me.
This is my first pregnancy and s/he is my honeymoon baby... ha ha... I and my husband feel very surprised although both of us want to have our baby during our first year of marriage... well, we think that our monkey baby is the precious gift from our God and we must take most care to he/she.
I book my antenatal appointment in QE coz it's in Central Kln and is convenient to me. Well, I've also made appointments for regular visits in a private doctor Dr Yu who has offered his service in Union hospital which many of my friends' friends said is good... I haven't decided whether I should I go to QE or Union hospital by this time since I still have 28 weeks to go... ha ha

thanks alot for your advices on the places to buy those maternity clothes... my troubles by now is I feel quite uncomfortable when I wear my trousers (no more dresses laaa!!! too bad) coz my tummy feel too stress... so I want some trousers which can cover all my tummy so that I can feel better.
BTW, I learn from my friends that stretch mark oils are helpful to prevent the occurence of stretch marks... and should be used during pregnancy... is it correct and if yes, have u or anyone can give me some advices on which brand is good???
