do you think the yellow-sticker(mosquito repellent) works? I am not too sure if I my kids like 蚊怕水.
You can put on the clothes or trousers, not direct put on the skin.

About 玩降落傘, was it dangerous, do kids play? From how old can they play?
Even 4 yrs old kid can play. My family 3 persons take together, kid sit in the middle, not afraid or dangerous.

I'll stay at Shangri La Tanjung Aru, do you know if it is any good?
I saw a long beach outside the hotel and have some food store nearby.

Hello!

I just came back from Sabah and we (me+husband+6 yrs girl) stay 6 day/ 5 nights at Magellan.

Very relax and enjoyable, some of the things want to share with all of u:

1.) No free upgrade and no upper floor. but luckily, we got 3rd floor.

2.) Remember bring the baby oil/lotion. It is very dry the skin after swimming.

3.) Suttle bus has to be booked in advance, very full and only have schedule every one hour.

4.) Have to ask for the discount even book the local tour or shopping. We buy 2 cap and he shows the price is Malaysia $22.5/cap. Final, we bargain to be Malaysia $10/cap. Local tour, you can check the travel agent near centre point. Those are much cheaper, may be they won't charge for the kids especially the island tour.

5.) Ice-cream I bought from the guide, M$ 17/box (12 pieces), min 6 box. It is very yummy. If buy at airport, M$15.6/box but min 7 boxes.

6.) Little Italy - very good restaurant. we have the lunch there. As I understand, the price for dinner time is double.

7.) Weather is not really hot. It is cool after rainning. Bring a jacket all the time for kids.

There are 4 shopping malls and one of them call "Wisma Merdeka"

Little Italy is opposite to Wisma Merdeka.

may be it's a silly question, where do you put your purse/keys when you swim or diving in the island? I have never done any water sports before. Thanks.

You can put your bags on the table or chair. The local guide will watch them for you. Everybody also do like that. Of course better don't bring valuable things to island if possible.

Sorry too many questions, I am getting nervious because I didn't join any tour(it's only a hotel and air ticket package), and didn't buy any travel book about Sabah.

-Mostly we pay by cash. Their service are very low. Big restaurant (like seafood, Little Italy or hotel)will accept credit card only. You can also pay credit card for local tour but there have 2% service charge.

- I think tips is not popular there, just up to you.
You can exchange money in the four department store. Rate is around 4.70. Means HK$1000 = RM470.

- I think no credit card accept on island, you should bring cash. I'm not sure whether have locker there.

Just for your advice:
The Mellegan Hotel will have the safe box in your room, and usually the passport and money keep it in safe box when you were out. Just bring several amount of money that you need to use is enough.

Also, if you take the free shuttle to town, most shopping centre (the bus will stop at each big shopping centre)have money exchange shop, the rate usually is better than airport counter, so you need to compare with, I used to exchange the money several times when I visited the shopping centres.

Hello,
I am seeking for advice as we (2 adults + 9 yrs girl) are going to Sabah in late July for 5 days/4 nights staying in Megellan Hotel. There are few questions that I would like to ask :

1. For the island tour (i.e. Sapi and Manukan), which island is worth going ?
2. Are浮潛 & 降落傘suitable for a 9 yrs old little girl, she can swim.

I plan to take 1 day to join the island tour, 1 day to 神山公園, 1 day去睇長鼻馬騮/螢火蟲, and of course swimming by the pool, any comments ?

YINMUM,

I plan to go to KK in end of Aug. I go through some discussions before and found that it needs about 2 hrs traffic to go to see the 長鼻馬騮/螢火蟲. Some comments said it's not worth to go, 1. expensive, 2. long travel time, 3. not so many 螢火蟲 you can see.

So you may find some more information about this first.

Dear Fifii,

我剛剛在6月尾去Sabah玩,亦入住Shangri-la Tanjung Aru Resort,基本上shangri-la屬國際級的6星酒店,所以你可以放心地方清潔及舒適問題. Megellan比較多d香港人入住,原因較近市中心,公用地方較大d及設施比shangri-la多一點點(如有保齡球館,兒童泳池有小型滑梯及免費穿梭小巴往市中心).

No problem 唔驚 ga ! 因坐著, 感覺上安全d, 我個女都有玩. (可以2 或3 個人一起玩)
浮潛最好自己帶, 清潔d, 租就rm10 一套.
