I bought US$155 books in early Jan 2000, shipping by standard delivery to my aunt's SF address was $0, and you need to add Tax (sales tax), for US$155 tax was US$9.27.

Harcourt book [no picture!]

Got this one from kmk weeks ago. It has a dragonfly on the cover.

It was about the concept of distance. The first picture will show you a farther vision of a fence. It says "I saw a wood fence and there is something on the move. What could it be?". The next page will zoom out showing three snails crawling up the fence.

Very good for teaching 'far and close' concept.

A farm family, their animals, and other elements of rural life (a worm, a field) all state their relationship to the earth in simple repetitive quatrains. "I am the farmer./I wear a red shirt./I am the farmer./I plow the dirt." Each speaker appreciates dirt in some way: sister makes dessert (mud pies), the pig wears it, and the scarecrow guards it. The lone exception is the cat, fussily cleaning its fur coat. The folksy, circular tale gently reminds readers of the interdependence of all living things. Unfortunately, Brandenberg's primitive folk-art illustrations are clumsy and unappealing, and fail to bring the tale to life. The large typeface is helpful for beginning readers, but the text is often set against dark, cluttered pages.

The people, animals, and objects on the farm explain their relationship with the dirt, which is used and needed by all.

Overall, I think this is a good book introducing 'dirt' !!
