Thanks for the sharing and your plan to your kid is a good example to me

Dear Jaydenmummy,

you're really helpful, hope to see Jayden and you soon.

I heard some Sydneyers saying that the train services is a mess, is it true? Anyway, train must be an important means for my husband to go to work in the city.

Driving license

Hi,

I've another problem- both my husband and I have HK driving licenses. We've to stay in Sydeny for at least 2 years. Do you know whether I can use international driving license obtained in HK for such a long time? And, any potential problems (e.g., in buying a car or some insurance problems)?

How do the Oz mums in getting an Oz driving license?

Dear Jaydenmammy,

wow~~ Impressive! Thank you again.

I sent an email to RTA and waiting for the reply.

My husband will definitely take the train to work as his bosses advise him not to drive to the city.

So... do we really need a car? I hate (actually, afraid of) driving, esp. when my little Harris is on board. We're now considering St. Leonards or Pymble-to live in.

Hi F.Forest,

I mean all the library in Ryde(eg. Eastwood, North Ryde, Top Ryde etc) also can ask for a free copy of "Community Information" booklet. It is very useful for new comers. Carlingford is very close to me, I heard that Carlingford Kindergarten is quite good and I also put my little boy in their waiting list, they accept children age 2 or above.
My big boy now is in Eastwood Public school, very nice school and his class teacher is very nice also.

Hi Harris_ma,
The public transportation here is not so convinence as in HK. I also feel scare to drive at the begining but now is much more better, but still have some difficulty for parking. I feel that driving here is much more easily than drive in HK, most of the drivers here have more patient and polite.

Dear all,

sorry for disturbing you.
I want to ask what's the normal rate per day for those workers in Australia (I mean only packaging workers, no technical skills needed).
It's urgent. Please and thank you.

Dear all Sydney mums,

Is the climate humid in Sydney, in particular, is a dehumidifier necessary in Sydney? If yes, then I've to pack it too.

Thanks.

Hi Harris_ma,

Whether it is necessary for the kids to be in person for enrollment would depends on individual schools. Even if it is necessary to do so, I am sure there are always exception should there is some difficulties encountered.

In my case, my sister helped me to ask around some mums in the neighbourhood about good preschools while I was in Hong Kong. Afterwards, she went to the preschool and take a look at it for me as she knew my priorities are cleaniness and the teachers quality at first sight. My sister helped me to put my daughter's name on waiting list, and pay for the deposit and first terms fee when my daughter was accepted.

Cheers.

Hi again Harris_ma,

No. Sydney is not humid at all. It is relatively dry all year round. Winter is exceptional dry in Sydney. I bought from Hong Kong was a humidifier.

Happy packing!

Hi ngmammy,

Thanks a lot! you're really kind, wanno email you but still dragging my feet

So, I don't have to pack my dehumidifier? If yes, I can save some space for other stuff!

Your sister is great... well... it will be a bit difficult for me as I don't know where I'm going to live... I know Chatswood International Kindergarten offers a bilingual program in Eng and Mandarian... but most probably I won't live there... maybe the closest one St. Leonards...

Thx again.

Hi Harris_ma,

Either way to contact each other could be fine. I have sent u my email is because I don't go to BK on a daily basis but i do check email everyday.

A dehumidifier is not necessary. U could leave more rooms for other stuff!

Don't worry. Everything would be fine once u get here! You would have more understand & feel on the surroundings, by then i am sure you will find yourself are more in control and less tense.

Here is a parent who had give some info. about a pre-schools on the north side. (Epping) http://forum.baby-kingdom.com/viewthread.php?tid=1308398&extra=page%3D1
Hope it helps.
