It's a good start for your boy. It really takes time to have the co-ordination of the hands and feets in breasstroke.

Last Sunday, I have spent almost an hour to teach Rachel the co-ordination also.

yanyan went to fruit market on Thursday, and bought a box of plums which is found in supermarkets under the nickname of "dinosaur eggs" :
$100 per box of 28 lbs, total 96 pcs.
PK = HK$3.5 per lb !

But the plums were very ripe this time, so cannot share with you buddies la !!

Will go and investigate whether there are XL mangoes, once the weather is cooler.

I like pickled baby ginger slices very much BUT I don't like to make them myself.:mrgreen:

Tks for your steer that morning. Eventually I managed to buy a box of Aussi oranges (76 pieces in a box) + 9 pieces of peaches.

Following the shopping, I founnd out some unbelievable deeds of my maid with evidence.

I have noticed recently that fruits are consumed pretty quickly these days. Of course, big wasp eats alot but I 'guessed' another reason is that my queen eat more than her understood entitlement (at most 1 piece of fruit) a day. Yesterday, the fruit market gave me an excellent case to dig out the truth.

We returned home before 11am after the shopping (steaming/sauna) at the fruit market. I was thirsty and tried one new oranges (you know I picked out all those rotten pieces and requested the shopkeeper to exchange acceptable pieces for me). When I threw the peels into the trash bin, I noticed 1 banana peel, cut peels of 1 orange, and peels of a peach. Since there was no chance for my greedy wasp to eat so many, I felt that it was my queen.

I verified my guess with wasp. He of course did not have the time to eat soooooo many fruits in such a short time.

I then asked my maid casually: 'Do you eat only 1 fruit a day which is the most you can get as I told you?'.

Blinking her eyes and speaking not confidently, she answered ignorantly 'Yes, do you mean fruits like banana? Yes one fruit a day only'.

I: 'Come on, fruits are fruits. Banana is a kind of fruit, right?'

I: ' Mm.. did you have 1 banana only this morning?'

Silience .. queen: 'Yes, 1 banana which I found is almost rotten .'{actualy the bundle of bananas are not rotten but just soft with signs of black spots... which is the best condition of bananas actually!!}

I: 'Mm..., one banana only, what about peach and oranges?'.

queen: 'I did not have orange... Mm... but i had also a peach which is almost rotten.'

{how can a newly bought peach be rotten??? Acc to her logic, she can eat all the things by saying that they are rotten!!!!!!!!!! What a silly excuse.!!! }

I: 'Well, I don't think the peach is rotten, as they are newly bought! Mmm.. you didn't eat any orange?I saw orange peels in trash bin.'

queen (embarassed still trying to defend her bad case) 'Mom, I made 1 bottle of orange juice for BB with three oranges and that's why there are peels.'

I: 'But I see peels of an 4th orange and sir and I did not tae any orange since return from the market.'

queen (knew that her lies were discovered): ' Oh, you meant that one. I ate it because it is rotten. Mum, why do you think that I am the one who eat many fruits? Do you know that sir eats a lot of fruits? How can you think that I eat all the fruits?'

I (enraged): 'Ella, come on. What is point to mention Sir? I am not comparing you and Sir. Sir can eat whatever he wishes as he pays for the fruits but the rule for you is at most 1 fruit a day. Did you tell me the truth just now?? Are you trying to say that I have been wrong to find out that you are not telling the truth a few mins ago? Why did you still say that you eat one fruit a day but you actually did the opposite. Do you have a point to ask why I should not think that you eat many fruits? Did I ask a bad question?'

queen (silent, nothing to say)

I summoned her for 1 hour and rehearsed her deeds are not acceptable. .... bla bla....

I think my queen cannot be excused any longer. She worths my action. I am so fed up with her. She is starting to be dishonest and her working attitude is so poor(acting as if she is the in-charge of the flat. If not that i have a web cam for real time monitoring, she will be even worse!!!).

I think in future, I won't employ a maid, even how good, for over 2 contracts!!!! This is a good lesson learnt that a good maid can be so different after being too 'familiar' with the tricks!!!

I really hate that!!

Must be you seldom go inside the kitchen,
and rarely open the trash can.

Well both piglet and my mum and I walk in and out of the kitchen everyday, so my yanyan maid won't be able to throw anything without our knowing.
And usually she asks me whether I really want something thrown away / dispose off before she throws them.
Cos my mum sometimes asks her to give away / throw something without my knowing and I ask for it later.

And by Q's reasoning,
everything in the house must be rotten !!

Well, I like bananas slightly raw,
ie before the spots even develop.
But for peaches and nectarines I like them ripe = real juicy.
Oranges - I like them no matter they are sweet or sour.

I don't impose any eating rules on my yanyan,
but she seldom does that -
in fact I never found her taking extra good food.
She is naturally plump and goes on diet ga,
and she really fasts during Muslim fasting month.
She prefers to buy what she likes,
usually with her own $$.
And when she finds oranges which start to rot,
she will cut the rotton part away and eat the good part
but that would be real rotton.
And I usually tells her to eat whatever she likes
(cos that is really not much compared with what we eat ourselves).

Perhaps she "da fu tau",
but not excessively so,
and even less than my own mum,
so I turn a blind eye.

9 peaches ? You mean the same Ah Suk has some peaches ? ?-(
We weren't able to buy any peaches / nectarine, every time they're all sold out !!

Soon he will have C21 Jap crystal pears ga !!

I like preserved 子羌 very much. This is one of the reasons I like Sushi. Everytime I go to Jenki Sushi, I eat a lot of it, apart from Sushi. However, sometimes, I have to control myself as the preserved 子羌 may be manufactured in China. You know, a lot of additives like aspartame may have been added. Everything is possible in our motherland.

How to make preserved 子羌?

Peel skin off baby ginger.
Buy white (rice) vinegar, boil with sugar.
Put baby ginger into sugar+vinegar, put in jar for days and days. Best way is to put under the sun ==> pink colour.

That is only the raw steps.
Need to ask yanyan for details.
She makes it, I don't.
Of course not taught by me la !!

If you make your own, you need not control yourself from eating loh

Now and then we have ginger + beef as a dish, and I "drink" the vinegar + ginger + beef + rice.

How come your Queen can consume so much fruits in such short time? It must be that she does not have enough work to do la. My maid is very busy with two kids. Not much time to think about eating.

Your Queen got serious attitude problem.

Rule number one, she must never quarrel with her employer, in particular she has no grounds. You have made the right decision to stop the employment contract with her.

You are still a bit lucky that your Queen has not taken the fruits out and sold to the other maids. My friend's maid took the groceries away, like soap power and detergent, and sold to the other maids at a discount. Turn the groceries into cash tim!!

Her case is even worse.

I like v. much ga. I used to fired the ginger with pineapple and angus beef.

yummy. But i used to ask my 99 to make it for me. I don't know and too lazy to make it by myslef

So, after second thought, i didn't post to take the ginger lor. :-P

Do I need to cook the ginger first? Just dump the sun dried baby ginger into the jar of boiled vinegar?

Will it be too sour if I do not add sugar into the vinegar? What is the ratio of sugar to vinegar? Do I need to add water into the vinegar?

My grandmother knew how to make it. I saw her making preserved vege like baby ginger, turnips, olives, pickles, mandarin orange, etc when I was small. However, my mother never does so. Now, my grandmother has died. Nobody in my family knows how to do it now la.
