hi, ngmammy

Thanks for your information!

Agreed with you, I think Catholic schools have good discipline, that's why I want to try it for my girl even we are not Catholic.

Hi ngmammy,

Thanks. I'm still looking around Chatswood to find out what I can get here. The most important is what I can get for my baby such as doctor, playgroup, childcare, kids activity, etc.

Hi cannasc,

I heard that there is a childcare center in Albert Ave., Chatswood (opp. the police station) which has Chinese teacher working there, but not sure the exact address or you may ask more info from council.

I always go to Chatswood for shopping and Chum Cha, maybe we can meet up sometimes in the weekend (I am working 5 days) and glad to know you.

Dear all Sydney mums,

I've got another problem - how to toilet trained a 2 yrs boy? My little Harris refused to use either potty or toilet... will the day care center offer toilet training?

Thx aga ...

Hi Harris_ma

Don't worry. When Harris get ready then he can do it by himself. Like my big one he started to use toilet when he was 2.5 yrs (2 mths ago). He refused to use toilet/potty but one day when we asked him if he wanted to try, he then could it properly and clean. The first piss will be a little hard for kid but try more times and Harris can make it.

When you arrive here, we can get together and chat. Good luck.

Dear F. Forest,

Thanks a lot, your sharing is really comforting to me. I'm totally new in taking care of my son as I'm working full time in HK... actually I wanna work in Sydney as well, but the childcare is really too expensive. How should this choice be made?

Hi cannasc and F.Forest,

I think the one in Albert Ave. is the Chatswood International Kindergarten.

Chatswood International Kindergarten
Tel (02) 9419 3499
30-32 Albert Ave.
Chatswood NSW 2067
Caters for Chinese speakers and offers a bilingual program in Mandarin and ESL. (ESL = English as a Second Language)

http://www.csnsw.org.au/ecms/home/pages/common/show-story.cfm?story_id=5177

My hubby's sister checked once for me, it costs A$85 per day and as usual - long waiting list: so just put your kid in the queue

Dear cannasc,

Feeling better now? It must not esay to stay at home without your own things. Hope everything will get better.

I'll be in Sydney with little Harris around mid-Aug., hope to see you soon- even though I may have to live far away from Chatswood (the rent is really high these days).

Hi Cannasc,

Thanks for your kind words. I couldn't help much as I am living in the South. Maybe it is you that would help me to better understand what's happening at the North! Nevertheless, simply chat and sharing our experiences in Sydney may be just as nice.

Have a enjoyable weekend coming!

Dear ngmammy,

Thanks for your kindness.

ai~~
I wanted Paramatta 1st--> friends said NO, dangerous.

Then, Hurtsville--> friends said YES; my hubby's bosses all said --> North!

The opinions are very diverse, so what we opt for may be the North Shore ---> every one said OK.. very expensive though.

I got a friend living in Hurtsville and he said that there may have more than 100 families offering different prices to ONE apartment! So I think I may have to live in the far upper North.. even beyond Gordon, the farest I know is Hornsby; but my hubby will be working in the city!

Well, I'm a Christian so I'll really leave it to God. My hubby will arrive at Sydney in early June (little Harris and I around mid-Aug.), so wait and see what he could get from our God.

It's been a while that haven't stopped by this post, hope everyone is fine.

As you probably know that the Sichuan earthquake does make the nerve of everyone in HK and mainland which the news coverage everyday for that. And prior to that will be the torch relay in Hong Kong which made a remarkable footprint in Hong Kong.

And I guess for Taiwan will be the new president and for US will be the president candidate selection.

How's Sydney?

Harris_ma,

From my personal experience, Randwick or Kingsford which I used to live are quite good and handy to go to the downtown.

If you ask for a better living environment, then North will be definite.

If possible, rent a hostel or motel for a week in your desired suburb then you will feel if this is the area you like. Drunkers, strangers or a nice living environment.

Hi Harris_ma,

Artarmon is a good place.
You may also think of Lane Cove and Crow Nest - although they are not along with railway line but theere are many buses running thru' City and Chatswood, even though in night time as well.

Dear F.Forest,

Thank you for the info. I heard of Lane Cove, too. My friends said part of the Lane Cove is very close to train stations, but I see some of the apartments are next to a lake/ sea.... seems to be very far away. I find it hard to know the distance from a map.

My family stuff will be packed by the moving company on 2/6. My hubby and I have to determine what to keep/ ship and what to be thrown away. It's already the 2nd week of working till mid-night! Very exhausting~~

Should I ship my son's toys? Very big so taking up lots of space, yet too fragile to be posted by surface mails~~ ai, how did you do you packing?

回覆 #536 Harris_ma 的文章

Hi Harris_ma,

I only packed clothes, books, shoes, toys, etc.......with NO big furnitures (only one single bed frame, small study desk and a bookself) and ended up they used up about 1/4 volume of a 20 feet container, it took 7 weeks arrival (to my door).
I aware that toys in OZ are expensive than HK. Shoes are also expensive and not really comfortable in OZ so I brought new shoes to here.

Where will your hubby first stay when he arrived?

Dear F.Forest,

wow~~ 1/4 20-feet container, that means about 7.5 cubic meters (c.b.m.).... I'll have a lot of big furitures, including a sofa, but I've only 10 c.b.m--> that means I may have to take the clothes and toys away and use surface mail ~~

My hubby's company will provide 2 weeks of hotel stay to my hubby (that may mean he has to rent a place within 2 weeks) --> any good and cheap hotel for my hubby after this 2 weeks?

Hi Harris_ma,

Back then, I have packed all my kids toys (after screen it and donated) using a few large size plastic containers. First it could avoid any damages to the toys and second, wanted to ship a few these large size plastic containers over as it is not cheap in Aus.

Hope this helps..

Hi Harris_ma,

I have brought all the toys here as I used a whole 20ft container to ship everything from HK. It's good to have some toys that your kid is familiar with so that he/she can feel more secure. Like ngmammy, I used large plastic boxes. Some of the lids get cracked when arrived though. The plastic boxes and toys here are expensive, so it's good to take more boxes here, maybe you can use them to pack some clothes too.

It's a very good opportunity to experience the work of God, when you need to move to a place that is new to you, with new people and new environment, since you can't rely on your job position, your knowledge and even your friends and family anymore. So, view it in a positive way, there is much room for God to work in your life. So, just take it easy and wait and see how He will lead your way.

Josephine
