Hi carlychung,

You may have one or two dream schools already. For those dream schools, it's worthwhile to call and ask. But for those not really dream schools but may worth a try, you can stay tuned here in BK. There is a lot of sharing in 小學雜談from Sep to Dec. You will be able to understand more about the school and the parents and the parents-to-be.

In my opinion, ICQM, which is in Diamond Hill, Kowloon, is a good choice for backup. This is a new school. However, there is a scandal (rumor?) recently about the headmaster. You may keep an eye on this school.

Besides, PLKCKY is also good choice. However, the competition of this one is higher than ICQM.

Went to the book shop to read the 香港直資私立小學巡禮during lunch, I have the same one published the year before. One of the thing I mostly concern is the school fee, PLKCKY Primary school fee will be up to $6x,xxx (can't remember if that's for P5/6 or even earlier). I didn't pay much notice at ICQM, as I thought it would be something like Junior versionof HKAPA, concentrating on music only (maybe I'm wrong) while Jun doesn't have musical sence...well some more monitoring...maybe I willhave to go for lucky draw if I will be having 2nd kid in these 2 years

Anyone know whether the principal/teachers of kindergarten will give advice on how to choose the primary school suitable to a particular child

I don't have an idea on the banding of the primary schools or I just rely on the lucky draw

You can always ask the class teacher about it. It's no harm. Some kinder are so big. Probably the principal may not be able to know every one of the students. So, her advice may not be so reliable in such case.

Does banding apply to primary school? I doubt so. But you may check from school website or some publications what secondary schools the primary 6 schools primarily got admitted to. It is highly likely that you can get such info for private primary schools. They are keen to announce such if their academic standing is high. Promotion ma...

Steps

1. Boil the white rice vinegar.

2. Add sugar to vinegar, until it suits your taste.

3. Leave it to cool off.

4. Peal the ginger, slice into thin slices.

5. Place the ginger slices in glass jar.

6. Pour the cooled vinegar inside glass jar and seal.

7. If you have a sunny window or balcony, leave the jar under the sun.

8. Wait for 1 month.

9. Ready to eat.

Notes :

White rice vinegar
Proportion approx 12 bottles : 30 catties of baby ginger.
Yanyan bought white rice vinegar from Kln City, an old shop near Kln City Market, which specializes in vinegar, diff types of pastes 醬園). $5 per bottle.

Sugar
Proportion approx 3 bags of 5 kg sugar : 12 bottles of vinegar.
Just suit your own taste.
If you intend to use the baby ginger for cooking, eg beef, need to add more sugar when you cook, otherwise v sour.

Cooling off
Must cool the sugar+vinegar thoroughly, before pouring into glass jar lined with ginger slices.

Putting under the sun
The baby ginger will naturally turn pink under bright sun. The baby ginger bought outside normally has additive and colouring to make it so pink.
Some foamy yeast and bubbles will appear in the jar and on the ginger. This doesn't matter. Just wash these away when you eat the baby ginger.
If you don't put the jar under the sun, the baby ginger will not turn pink, but will stay light yellowish.

Ginger slices
You can cut into slices or chunks. Just suit yourself.

Peeling ginger
Must wear gloves. Otherwise hand / skin becomes vvv hot.

Dear che, carlychung,

I remembered that parents have to fill in a questionaire when the kids were having the interview. I could not recall any specific questions. However, it is quite similar to that of Rhenish Primary School, which is located in Kowloon Tong.

I saw a couple. They brought along a notebook(computer) and searched & copied from it. It is quite handy. You may consider to do so, if necessary. For my case, since I have applied Rhenish earlier, I just dumped my brain and mission was accomplished.

I wonder if I can use a stainless steel pot to boil the vinegar??

I am not that good at Chemistry.

Should I need to use a porous pot or Kornings pot instead?
