Jsmami:
Every kid's development is different, as long as they are showing progress, we don't have too worry much. I guess if we let our kids explore more, they will become more independent and maybe is like my hubby said, sometimes I am over reacted and too concern about our son so, it makes him still a baby boy. :-P
We talk to our son in Chinese but the TV shows or DVD only in English of course. He is a ABC and if we don't talk to him in chinese now, once he is in the school, there will be a very big chance he won't say a word in chinese. All of my nephews (yes, all my sisters have boys only no little girl in our family side) are ABC and their chinese skills are so poor (I am only saying the talking part, none of them know how to write or read) There are 2 of them are refused to speak in chinese. I only hope my son can speak and understand cantonese at least he can communicate with his grandparents will be good enough.
Fannie & 花花:
Thanks Fannie but I want the one that can lay down, cuz my son has the umbrella one too but is only with the sitting position. 花花, the Chicco one you bought is two positions, come with a travel bag but no bottom tray right? The one I saw has 3 color choice, red, blue and green.
To all mommies,
Do your little ones still using the bottles? My son uses the bottle for milk only one in the morning and one before bed time, in the afternoon he uses the cups for milk/juice/water.
花花:
Thanks for the info. yes, I want to get a stroller and we saw the Chicco one in Babies R Us, I think is like the one you have, the one I saw doesn't come with the bottom tray and it cost $US 50.00 = $HK400.00 but it sold out and the sales told me next week they will have the advance one but only difference is with the bottom tray and it costs maybe $10-20 more but still the strollers cost in US is much cheaper than in H.K. You know the regular umbrella type stroller I have at home, I got that for free when I purchased over $75 at Toys R US, cuz is really cheap in US. (very pretty gar, is the tweety and baby bunny one) The fancy one type for the newborns cost range is $100-$150, for the baby stuff I think HK. is more expensive than in US.
Kenax:
Yes, my son born on the same day as yours, anything in common? My son is very stuborn but he loves to laugh, always has a smile on his face. , his chinese name has a "happy" word.
Everyone:
Now I feel okay la, since all of your little ones are still using bottles for the milk, cuz when my son went to 18 mos old check up, the doc. told me that I can start to wean the bottles and he is going for the 2 year old check up this weekend and I am afraid she is going to ask me that again plus one of my friend, her daugher is 3 mos older than my son and she told me I should stop letting him to use the bottles now otherwise is not good for his teeth.
My son drinks milk with his bottle only. He just starts drinking water or juice with his zip cup (via a straw) - rubbermaid type. It took me a month to train him to use the zip cup as he liked to suck with a nipple so much! I guess I have to switch him over to drink with just a cup now!
靖嵐 & Jsmami
My son will use the bottle for milk only and I will prepare a bottle of water for him at night just for in case. I didn't give any juice to my son until he is 1 year old and when I start giving him the juice, I need him to drink that from the sip cup only. He is okay with the sip cup and the straw but like you guys said, he doesn't like milk in the cup besides milk he is ok with other liquid. I start to train him to drink milk by the sip cup in the afternoon but it takes more than 30 min. If he use the bottle, like 靖嵐, he will finish the bottle in less than 10 min. So, what I do now is let him have the sip cup and if he doesn't finish within 30 min, I will let him use the straw to finish the rest.
