HI, SAILOMAY,

Hi, Mich
How long did you hold your HK licence ? If you have held a licence in HK for more than 3 years, you will be eligible for a full driver licence in Australia. And, when did you first entry to Australia ? In my case, my first entry in Australia was in DEC 2005 for 5 days. Then, I came back again in Jan 2008 and stay. But I asked RTA that I can't drive because they count from the date of my first entry! So, this is expire!

回覆 #583 Pro-Jamie 的文章

Hi, Pro-Jamie

Thanks for your reply!

Oh, then i'm the same case as yours. My first entry was 2004 and arrived again 2 weeks before for stay. Therefore, i need to apply for L Plate and have 120 learning hours (my goodness).

I held my HK driving license for more than 6 years but didn't drive after issued...hehe....SO, i think i need to take few lessons with driving school and then my husband can coach me as he is a full license holder.

How's your driver teacher? Is he/she good? How much he/she charges you? I've found some driving school on internet but don't know whether they have good reputation.

Where do u live? Will you & otherSyd Mom have some gatherings soon? I would very much like to join. Thanks.

Mich

sailomay and Vanessamom,

By reading your bits and pieces in Oz's life, the living standard is much more higher than my times in Oz.

Recall the days when I first arrive always require conversion of AUD to HKD and complaint about the high living standard but will low quality of product.

HI, Vanessamom,

Ihave almost the same situation as you, living with parents-in-law, not happy at all but no choice. i have a 3yrs & 7 yrs old daughter & the elder one will go to Year 2 after school term break. I'm still finding a child care centre for the younger one as she studied K1 in HK and she loves to go to school. Of course, I also want her to go to school too, then I can have spare time to do my personal works.

i'm very bored as i don't have any friends here. Let's chat if you've time.

hi, Mich

Nice to meet you!

My daughter had started school for two weeks before school term break, she enjoys her school life very much as not much homework, I just wonder what she learned as it is different from h.k., she haven't got any textbook here. Everyday I take her to school by walking 15 mins, I think I need to learn driving as soon as possible.

Did your daughter study Year 2 in H.K.? How does she feel about au? I heard from my hubby's friends that the childcare here is quite expensive.

I really feel very very bored everyday, just wait for the weekends to come, so I can go out with my hubby.

Hi, Vanessamom,

My daughter has finished Year 2 in HK at Int'l School. She has to repeat half year of Year 2 again here. So I think she has no problem in adapting the school life. Shs had no textbooks and homeworks also in HK. Her school is also 15-20mins away from home. SO, i will have an hour walking exercise everyday...haha.

Are ur parents-in-laws treat you well? Mine are ok but they are old-fashioned. You know, they are still living in a 30years ago style. Their house is full of stuffs and rubbish. The kitchen is very dirty too...i can't stand it but i can't complain too. you know, 寄人離下. i hope we can move out before x'mas. my hubby always tries to persuade me to live in his parents' place so as to save $$$. Yeah, I understand but can't stand lor....hehe....

Do you use msn often? Let's chat again when you're free.

It's great to have someone to share feeling. Thanks.

hi, Mich

I send the PM to you already, please check!

My daughter was studied in Sacred Heart Private School (the one in Caine Road, Central). She was nearly finished Year 1 as she quit the school at the end of May, but the headmister put her in Year 2 here, so she missed half year in Year 2, fortunately, the teacher told me that she has a strong foundation in English and told me no worries about her.

For the msn, please check PM.

Hi, Mich
I think you don't need to practice 120 hours to get a full licence!
I asked RTA and they said I did not need to have 120 hours for practice as I have a driving licence in HK.
I have not find the driver teacher. I just drive with my husband. I will find one later.
I live in Hurstville. Actually, I did not have gatherings with other moms except the one who live very near with me! (We can see each other on the balcony!)
I will PM you my contact if you like to have!

Hi Vanessamom,

mmmm... I would say 華英小廚 for 食飯,its 粉絲蟹煲很好食。一個叫四季豆抄牛爽肉/蝦子豆腐就好適合小朋友"送"飯.

For 粥、粉、麵、飯就係"中發",我差不多每次都叫"乾抄牛河" + 熱/凍奶茶。"拍"得住香港。

Hope you would have a great dining at Hurstville!

Cheers.

Hello Morgan_Ma,

My son is also turning 7 before Christmas this year.

Eastwood / Denistone is a great place to live. My children goes to Denistone East Public School (yr 4 & yr 1). There are also a few BK Mums who live in the Eastwood / Epping / Carlingford area.

Welcome to Sydney.

Thanks sbandliz,

I prefer Denistone East Public School and Eastwood Public School (that's why I choose these two areas to live) but don't know which one is better and suitable for my son becasuse he doesn't like tradition way of teaching (homework and tests). I'm still searching the boundaries of these two schools.

How do you feel about Denistone East, I know they have OD class and the academic result is very good, I also worry will it too hard for him to start his school life in Au.

Both schools have fairly good reputation. School boundaries are likely to change each year - so maybe better if you contact each school individually and ask them to e-mail their school boundaries to you.

Your son will be in year 1 (based on his age). School work is much more relaxed in Australia than in Hong Kong - so don't worry so much. At such a young age, he will adapt in no time at all.

I hope you will get your answer this week - school only just started back today after their mid year school holiday. Let me know if you need info from Denistone East & I will drop by at the school office.

Hospital - depends on whether you want to be looked after by a midwife or obstetrician. For my 3 babies, I was looked after by midwives at a public hospital - went to my doctor to confirm pregancy, then went to the hospital to book my first appointment with the midwives, then they handled everything after that. My youngest is 3.5 already, so maybe another Sydney Mum will have more update info on this.
