Hello buddies,

If you were me, what would you decide?

I let my son to join the speech competition this year (1st time), but we will have the 2nd interview of HKUGA on the same day, same time.
I tried to call HKUGA to change the time, but seems no chance. :cry:
Headache...

yes, the exam last for whole lesson, they will prastise a while first and then stage by stage for exam. you better don't come la. as it is boring if your son don't need to wait for the exam. unless he want to watch the red belt to seperate the wooden block, it is quite interesting. HAHA.

Last time my son can't join the exam and we didn't come as well.

我本人是读语言出身的，看了这本书以后，觉得作者总结的方法没有太大的新意。不过也不是没有精华的地方，有些地方还是值得借鉴的。比如说：推荐的《新概念英语》，其实这本书还是不错的。也许很多人会遗忘掉这本书。这本书的第一册中所有句法和例子都是非常实用的。我觉得目前市面上在整体上还没有哪本可以超过它的。作者所推荐的《900句》，我就实在不敢恭维，至少不太适合少儿。因为没有什么上下文，是靠死记硬背的。这种学习方法肯定效果不太好，就算有效果，肯定不是最有效的方式。

建议大家看看《巧虎》儿童教育系列中的英语部分，还是相当不错的，很值得推荐。

另外，如果家长本身英语较好的，就不要吝啬在家里无时不刻地讲英语，也不要怕别人的冷嘲热讽，我在家里每天要和女儿讲很多时间英语，她现在四岁，我们已经能用基本的英语沟通，她的听力特别好，所以哪怕不会说，也能够明白你的意思。所以她现在很爱用英语和我交流。

另外，我购买上百本原版的儿童英语书，坚持讲每天一本，不需要她会讲，能明白大致意思就可以，但是一定要“坚持”和“海读”，尽可能不要买国内出的双语，很多都不怎么样，比较中国式。要让孩子学会外国人的说话习惯和思维方式，就要看原版的。

此外，每天给他听外文歌曲。最好是儿童歌曲。在这里向大家推荐《最好的英文歌曲》这个系列，非常好。而且每首歌曲唱完，都要重复朗读一遍歌词，这样很便于孩子记忆。《英文童谣》也不错，培养孩子英文的语感和节奏感，包括如何押韵。如果孩子能把英文童谣全部背出，我敢说他今后用英文写文章，写诗都会非常棒。因为童谣的句式和诗词很接近。

建议家长做好学习的记录。如果没有时间，直接写在书上也可以，这样可以清楚地知道学习的进度，否则恐怕自己都会搞糊涂地。一段时间后再回过头看看学习的进度，比较容易总结。

最后，我还是要说要坚持，坚持再坚持。如果没有持之以恒，最好的学习方法也是徒劳的。

以上是本人的一些教育孩子的一些心得，愿意和志同道合的教长交流。

Join us in the first Used Book Sale organised by the University of
Hong Kong Libraries on 18-19 November 2006.

The over 10,000 copies of books for sale are duplicates donated by
our supporters or withdrawn copies from the library collection.
Books are of different subjects, both in Chinese and English, and
will be sold at HK$15 up.

Putting the duplicates and withdrawn copies on sale not only
promotes reading by allowing the public to get the books they need
at a good bargain, but also fully utilises library books. The
proceeds from this book sale will be used for collection development
and enhancing services of the Libraries.
