I my queen today. Her hard nails accidentally scratched bee's lower eye lid. Dr S nt yet with Uncle Wong.
It's so funny that he always open his wallet whenever he sees me at TL. He is like a father giving pocket money to an over-sized daughter.. haaaaa... I refused to get the $ today. I said, let's settle when things are there la.
Hv you heard that even if an employer replaces an 'aged' queen (i.e. min 2 yrs of employment) with a new queen,, the 'aged' queen may still claim 'redundancy' payment from the employer. In the past, the agent told me that as long as you will employ another queen to replace the old one, the latter cannot claim the payment no matter how long the service has been. My source said that it was advice from experienced staff of the labour tribunal.
What is your understanding? If the above is true, those queens are really over-protected by the HK Gvt!!!

Bought twice to resell at -- $45 (org $70)
Chip, Bliff, Floppy and their friends are the stars of the popular in-school reading scheme, the Oxford Reading Tree. Adopted in 80% of primary schools, this proven teaching aid can now be used at home.
If replaced by same rank / same post, then no need for redundancy payment.
But there will be severance payment.
Both calculations / amounts are the same (2/3m $ for every yr of service).
Maybe your source confused the 2 diff items.
So it is either redundancy payment, or severance, but not both, and not none.
I thought your Q signed her resignation letter already ?
If it is voluntary resignation, no need to pay reduncancy payment nor severance payment.
Of course they are better off than all local da gung tsais :
no need for probation, medical from employer to cover both pre-existing and new ailments, return air tickets, free B&B, statutory holidays.
And employers have to pay that Re-training Board (for training locals) for hiring foreign DHs.
Illogical arrangement, esp when soooo many locals are getting less takehome pay than they do.
Piglet re-read the OLW Ph bks already, said he preferred them to Songbirds woh, better, I think more interest becos funnier / madder stories.
GC,
I consumed 1 XL mango and 2 baby mangoes just then, .
The baby mangoes' seed (the core) was really paper-thin.
And piglet drank mango milkshake (= 2 big and 2 baby mangoes) today.
If you go, do get the XL mangoes. ~$5@, vs ~$10-12@ at the fruit stalls in the market.
If the helper has worked for not less than 5 years under a continuous contract and the employment contract of a fixed term expries without being renwed, she will be entitled to the long service payment i.e. monthly salary x 2/3 x no. of years.
If the helper has worked for not less than 2 years under a continuous contract the the employment contract of a fixed expires without being renewed by reason of redundancy (no replacement), the helper will entitled to severance payment.
In your case, if the maid is resign, no such payment should be made to her.
