[size=small]Peanut Butter and Jelly: A Play Rhyme (Puffin Unicorn)

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich a la Westcott. With the help of elephants and a baker, two children create a table-size sandwich from scratch. First, the bread is kneaded, baked, and sliced. Then from beneath the kitchen table emerge five elephants, each armed with a bag of peanuts that they stomp into peanut butter. Next, on to the bathtub filled with grapes which are squashed into jelly. The result of this festive cooperative endeavor is a giant ``p & j'' sandwich consumed by all.

Each scene prompts giggles and is enhanced by the sideline actions of a pet cat who looks shocked by the entire escapade, a dog who licks his chops in anticipation of snatching a morsel, and finally, the mother who faints in the kitchen doorway after witnessing the crowd.

Each rhyme is accompanied by bold collage artwork and a paragraph of basic information; on the double-page spread containing "Two Little Apples," readers are told about some of the varieties and uses of the fruit, while "Snowflakes" has a simple explanation of their formation.

Ages 2^-6. This collection of 22 fingerplays has fun with subjects like the stars, seeds, and snow. A big draw here is the art. Textured, sometimes patterned cut-paper spreads have bright colors, bold, simple forms, and characters with plenty of personality, making this a good choice for lap sharing or groups. Boxed insets next to each line of rhyme shows digit placement, and larger boxes give information about the topic. Although some of the accompanying scientific information will be over the heads of preschoolers (i.e., photosynthesis, evaporation), other concepts are presented in a simpler style and should satisfy kids' curiosity. Sure to be popular with caregivers and librarians, as well as their young charges.

A good book to have fingerplays with your kids whilst teaching them about animals, natuer, weather and the universe!!

Yes. I love the critter's stories. Thank for marieyuen's introduction!

I just learnt from Ms. Fxxx tonight that >10 different titles of "Little Critter" books will be arrived next month.

Just to remind you that the "Little Critter Storybook Collections published by Harper" and another "Just A Little Critter Collection by Random House"are books with 6-7 critter's stories. I think some of these titles will be overlapped with some storybook.

The Better Chinese set is very simple - each book teaches a few basic Chinese characters by repetitive sentence pattern.

Actually it is mainly designed to help children learning Chinese as a Foregin or second language (e.g. for ABC or guilow). So there is English translation of book content at the back of the front cover. And the introduction of each book in the CD is spoken in English.

For the 2005 version I bought, I found both paper and printing quality is very nice. Content is also rich and lively.

As the whole set costs only $330 nett, each book is just around $9! Children can also learn Putongha from CD as a bonus. Quite good price la!!

For the Orchestra book, I found it is really worth to have one at home. As it is soo... good, I have already reserved one more book for my good book friend la!! Don't worry... just waiting for my good news la!! :wink:

Che, so you would definitely miss your girl every day.

Btw, SC confirmed that they did show surename on bank-in slips!! I have suggested them to review that. No need for that at all (they claimed that it was for security). No point on that la - we are not talking about withdrawal of $$ from a third party.... sigh.

My son loves the "Look for the Rainbow" (introduced two days ago) book so much. He likes to peep at the rainbow thru the telescope and control sea-level (upwards during flooding and downwards when the flood is drying out!!!) for Noah's ark.

If you ladies find this, should BUY one!! Really good.

From this book, I learn a new animal name called "Aardvark"... looking like a hyena!! Don't know what it is in Chinese.

I found 1 and only 1 at csw kick-my-kid cha. It only costs me HK$60-80 or even much less (don't remember). If I have seen more than one, I usually would buy spare copies for book friends here la.. Try those big wholesale outlet of kick-my-kid la.
