My elder son had been in PIPS three years ago, nursery local class half day - my comment on PIPS was very positive. However, my hub insisted to send him to Kowloon Tong kindergarten, so we quit.
Early this year, I went there for an application of my little daughter, I discovered most of the teachers that I familiar with have left. Finally, I changed my mind to send my little one to 保幼 this April. So far, she loves the school and seems enjoy a lot there.
thanks for your info. The main problem for us in Seacrest Villa is my elder son complain there is no enough place to play. You know football, roller ... is forbidden to play here. We got problem also in our flat, especially in the toilet.......
Sorry that I can only post my comments of PIPS today. Actually, my joby is very busy and I work very late everyday.
I visited PIPS last Saturday. The teacher (HK people but speaks English) of the international class introduces the course to us. In the coming academic year, they will have 7 students in local class and 4 in international one. The fee will be $2850 for local one and $4100 for international one. Only am class is available. My feeling of this school is OK. The debenture for local class has been waived, but you still have to pay $10,000 for international class. As my daughter can only understands English, I will apply the local class so that she can learn more about Chinese.
I also visited Fulful, Luk Yeung and Wisdom. As my daughter will be only 2 years old in Sept, I will choose the one nearby, i.e. either PIPS or 保幼. I prefer PIPS as 保幼 only has full day class and I don't like it. My maid will also be nothing to do! So, if PIPS don't have any very negative comment or feeling, I think I will apply this school. For N1, I plan to go to Kowloon Tong.
fm1128, do you have chance to talk to your friends upstairs?
I understand your point and I also heard the same opinion from other mothers. Normally, my daughter will sleep two hrs from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Then my maid bring her to the Podium to play with other children, of course she will chat with others. If my daughter applies the full day course, I am afraid my maid will sleep or watch the TV the whole day. Besides, the school had a long waiting list last year and I am not sure if this is the same this year.
Last Saturday, a neighbour told me that she will send her little daughter to PIPS on coming September and there will be 9 students in local class. Based on the teacher / student ratio, my spouse also considers changing but I still hesitated. Yesterday I went to 保幼觀課, so far so good but too many students in a class.
In my point of view, you better consider what's good for your child.
My husband, sister-in-law & friends also said that after I sent my son to full day nursery, my maid will have nothing to do. They told me just attend half day kindergarten is well enough. However, I really think that attending a full day is better, especially when I have only 1 child, we don't have much children around that can play with my son. Moreover, children raised by maid usually not independant enough.
The maid, maybe a bit wasting my money, having her at home doing nothing. But, I want better quality life for my son. If your child stays at home longer, you better have schedule for your maid on how to do with him/her at home.
{I know that some maid can help doing good home schooling but might be a bit rare.}
The social life in full day nursery really benefit more to a single child.
fm1128: I would like to know how many studens in a class of 保幼? Is there any vacancies for the nursury in coming Oct.? How do you feel their teacher? Can I have some opinion?
jk67jk: Thank you very much for your opinion and I really understands your point of view. I think I will re-consider... will let you know my final decision.
