When I started my son for the potty trained, I let him sit on the toliet for both pee pee and poop poop and I think after about 3 weeks I let him pee pee with standing up position, just ask your hubby or any male (cousins, uncles) to demostrate for him while they go to the bathroom, it only take not even 1 day to change from sitting to standing position and now he even refused to sit for pee pee unless he has to go for 大大, he feels it is so much fun to do it by standing up. :-P

Don't worry la, don't push the kids when they are not ready for the potty trained yet. Did you buy the toddler toliet seat type or the individual potty? 花囡 maybe is scared of the toliet, get her the toddler one and let her sit there every so often, don't really have to insist her to pee/poop there, just let her feel comfortable to be around that and after she is willing to sit on there, tell her the function of it and bring 花囡 with you when you use the bathroom to show her what to do.
It required a lot of time/patience to train the kids, some kids are so good and it is so fast for the trainning, I am still working on it, so, " add some oil"
花囡 seems very independent, I am sure she can pick up very fast. :-P :-P
