1. Students : TSL - some are expatriate (most are Indian) right?BS
** Mostly Indian, some mixed, some Jap, .....
Warning : Some parents are ?-( in behaviour / manners.
I think if your girl is admitted, she will not be too happy as most of the kids are loud / noisy / naughty / active type. Jojo is by comparison much more quiet. Some kids are quite foxy 奸 for their age, and piglet is learning that not all ppl in the world are good ppl. I believe it is something to do with family education. By the end of P2 should know who can be friends and whom best to ignore.
CKY - not much expatriate (many 公務員s' kids tim)
2. Chin lesson : TSL - teach in Cantonese?
** P1 in Cantonese, P2 and above in PTH. P2 actually depends on the standard of the class and teachers; some teachers would read in PTH then repeat in Cantonese. Additional PTH lessons too, twice a week.
CKY - teach in PTH
3. Secondary : TSL - no, need to join the government allocation and take the HK exam, CKY - have its own secondary school, students can directly go to. Seems will join the IB? Not sure..
4. Textbooks : TSL - has,
** P1 no Engl textbook. Gen Sc and Maths taught in Engl. But in P1 and beginning of P2, cos Engl standard of students (and I think their parents too) vary, some teachers also use Cantonese in class.
P2 Engl - textbook is called "Welcome Plus" which I suspect is a Sing textbook. For all others normal standard, will not 教高1級 or 半級. For Engl and Chin, use ~1x worksheets for Paper 1 and 2 of Engl and Chin in each term.
CKY - no textbooks, only readers are use (at least for 初小, dunno for 高小)
5. Donation : TSL - not much (I believe as compared with CKY)
**Donations solicited for PoLeungKuk activities, but not compulsory (in fact is never compulsory, don't believe the sour grapes who love to attack the old schools).
Also solicited donations for the music annex. But this is not for every year.
CKY - many many activities to raise money cause it need to build its own campus ma

Jojo should be more suited to the old grant schools, eg SPCS, DGJS, MCS, SFCC, SHCC, StC, MSS, StMCC.
Not that TSL is not good. Its Engl environment is good. But soft girls will easily get into trouble with bullies (girls) who are unkind.
che,
Int'l school is not my cup of tea too, but I'm interested in IB, looking for one in kowloon area, just heard that 浸附王錦輝中小may run IB-have to check it out.
Buddies,
should be able to join you guys lunch next week!
Adm food = food found in Admiralty (except for buffets in the hotels)
NETs in TSL : there is at least 1 gweilo, surname Geiger. Tells the kids not to call him Tiger woh, and quite funny though v tough / stern and the kids are soooo scared of him. Otherwise they tend to be v naughty in class too ga.
Those who teach Engl are usually ABC or CBCs I think. Not HKnese and not HK accent. The subject teacher is a pretty CBC and the kids all love her.
They use traditional approach but make it more interesting, something like topic-based. But not really project approach.
Who told you there are loads of homework ? Already minimal homework and tests / exams by HK standards. If you see what they spoon-feed in the local govt pr schools you'd run away as fast as possible. They usually teach Engl (grammar; writing and comprehension) using worksheets. eg partitives (don't ask me what this is, I never know their correct term only know usage ga ja) ....
I got an Engl major student from Baptist Univ, graduate of Good Hope, to "look after" piglet and supervise his homework, that girl quitted (without every saying so directly to me, just disappeared, soooo irresponsible !) after 1 month. And she made several mistakes in a P2 grammar worksheet on how many / how much !!
My plan for piglet is to kick him a little higher than medium range.
I asked piglet and he agrees that Jojo is better off in schools other than TSL. Of course you can give it a try, let her see more of the world, just attend the interviews and have some practice..... but if admitted to any of the old grant girls' schools just forget this one.
Told you some parents are ?-( , not one but quite a lot !
Another BK mum's girl who is quite sensitive was bullied by 1 or more girls who were academically good (and appears to be good girls in teachers' eyes) ! - if you give me that pretty stationery I will play with you, then next day either more gifts or else a group shuns her out; after giving the bully the pretty stationery and the orig owner wanted to borrow it back for a short while the bully will refuse.....making the little girl vvv unhappy.
Even piglet, who is soooo huge in size, is bullied by some of his classmates ! They just pick on those who are softer than themselves, and as CCheng noticed - piglet is quite 純情 and don't know how to handle the bullies.
You may say there are such behaviour in any school, but I think some parents either turn a blind eye or even encourage such behaviour ==> will not 蝕底。
