When I try to ask him the sound of each letter, he couldnt answer me!

um.... for the sound issue, it's totally different method for phonics and IPA. As there are different symbols for IPA and hence, if ch knows blending, it's already ok for him to learn IPA la. But for simplisity for reading purpose, phonics is also ok gei. Of course, IPA is more systematics and sure can used for all words to be pronouced (even foreign language apart from english, that's why it's so call "international phonetics alphabet" lor)

I think your schedule will be better since you only need to take one trip between Osaka/Tokyo (3 hrs). Last time, we take two trips, they are mainly sleeping in the 2nd one.:)

BTW, I have just started teaching mm on my own. Wanted to teach her some more basics before letting her learn from ww's piano teacher. Most important of all is to save a bit money :>

I've just hire a piano teacher to teach hm at home and am thinking of buying a piano too

Actually, I don't have much info, or just outdated already. B mom is right that seeking the piano teacher's advice will be good and usually they have discounts in buying piano.

In HK, the Japanese brands are more common than the European ones, mainly due to the weather alike and $.
Yamaha and Kawai are two most popular brands with good quality and also resale value.
The tones of Kawai are more soft (柔&厚) while those of Yamaha are more clear (清&響亮).
Personally I like Kawai more.
The $ of Yamaha for the same grade piano will be a bit > that of Kawai.
