Along Orchard Road you'll find 3 large bookstores:

1. Kinokuniya - located at 3/F of Yee An City 義安城 (next to Takashimaya 高島屋). Numerous Eng children books can be found. Best buy: ORT (at a vv good price!!)

2. Popular - located at Orchard MRT station (B1)

3. Borders - located at Wheelock Place (a shopping mall), open till midnight on Fri and Sat.

PS. Don't forget to go to Harrods 專賣店 at B2 of Takashimaya. Price is just 1/3 of HK!

Besides, can any of you suggests some books for my children, they are 3.5 yrs old and 1 yr old respecitively ? And also, are ORT worth to buy???

kittylock, 成日想話返比你知, 10月去disneyland hotel 時, 在迷宮果度見到個好似係你囝囝, 不過唔敢確定.

呢輪少左入黎好書分享, 因為屋企實在太多書,好多仲未開始睇,怕入黎睇左又去買. 但去親書店附近都心思思會上書店行下又買下. :wink:

Really?! Yes, I stayed at Disneyland Hotel on Oct-9 and went to Disneyland on Oct-10. Did you go there on the same date?

It seems that UK eng books sold in SIN (e.g. OUP/ORT, Puffin, USBorne readers etc) are relatively cheaper than US eng books.

Someone said it's because some of the UK publisher have their printing house and warehouse located at Malaysia, hence books bought in SIN is much cheaper.

Have just seen these 2 books at DBSPD (at the reading corner of one of the P3 classrooms) during their open house last Sunday:

[size=medium]Seymour Simon's Book of Trains

In Seymour Simon's Book of Trains, the author dedicates one spread each to various kinds of trains, with a full-color photograph on one side and, opposite, a couple of paragraphs describing it. He covers everything from old-fashioned diesel trains to subways that run on electricity to France's TGV (with speeds of between 200-300 mph). A series of spreads on the freight train details different kinds of cars.

[size=medium]Seymour Simon's Book of Trucks

This book is full of color photographs of big, shiny trucks, all on the job. In comparing their size and weight to dinosaurs and elephants, the text also emphasizes the vehicles' power and strength. Pictures show these oversized transports hauling logs, moving a house, carrying and dumping heavy construction materials, taking children to school, and carrying gasoline from refineries to gas stations. Simon explains what a semitrailer truck is, and why the drum of a cement mixer rotates while the truck is moving. The exciting photographs, many of them close-ups, will captivate youngsters. Though the sentences are long and the vocabulary sophisticated in places, the visual appeal of this book is very high and the information is clear and equally engaging.

Very good pictures and text indeed!!
