Hi, Idxx Ms Lam told me that the stage 1-7 available at their shop is not the version in HK (saying that HK version has many sub-stage, e.g. Stage 1 has stage 1a..) whilst their version in hand does not. I don't really understand as I hv never seen teh full version of ORT.

Btw, where can I get ORT with the lowest price. I have lost the info. of Silver who was said to be offering good discount. The stage 1 at Idxx is 180 x 0.8 at most, don't know if it is good deal. Pls share.

Firstly, If you like Magic Box, you may check with "Cxxxxxxwxxx". OR you can order online on DD directly. (Moreover, I received a promotion leaflet from sesame that the "HK version" of Magic Box is $8 /book. I'm not sure if they have stock or not.)

Secondly, if your kid loves Magic Box, probably you may interest in "Wendy English for 2-6 set" (A box with 12 story books + 12 VCDs) too. As Wendy English and Magic Box are also the products from Sunshine NZ. The style of Wendy English books are also similar to Magic Box. Each book is made up of 3 stories.

Magic Box and Wendy English are books with short interesting stories (like other levelled readers) which are suitable for beginning readers. The simple and repetitive sentense structure allows kids to follow and read confidently.

However, "Ready Reader" stage ABC, 1, 2, 3 are designed in different way. Each box contains ~50 small books. The purpose of RR is to illustrate "

honics" in a systematic approach. It emphasizes on teaching kids the underlying principle of how each "letter" sounds behind each story. Your kids can pick up and understand the sound of each letter gradually through reading these stories.

(So it's really dependent upon which kind of English books that you're looking for. If you like the story book then, you may go for Magic Box, Wendy English. If you like your kids to pick up how each "letter" sound, then you may choose RR.)

I understand now.

But, I think I won't focus on one area only. So, I will take RR, MB and even others at the same time. It is fun to read kid books (at such an age!! ha..a.).

For MB, I think their VCD quality is ma ma ti. I actually love the books only.

What is the sesame info about HK version ? Do you mean the one available in Greenfield. $8 not bad if I want to get rid of the VCD.

Besides, pls kindly advise how to get the Wendy English for 2-6?

Also, pls teach me how to paste book image on this topic for sharing book info. million thanks!!!

I went to Idxx last night, and bought the set, but only 10% discount, i.e. cost of the set was =
$6.9 x 9 x 0.9

The poster there said 10% discount for purchases over $50, 20% discount for purchases over $200.

I asked the part-time shopkeeper, and she said even BK mums receive the same discount, i.e. no longer 20% off for purchases over $50 even for BK mums; effective since 1 March 2005.
(I did say I was a BK member.)

Perhaps if Ms. Fong was there ........

I just back from Ixxx also, yes discount now changed to 10% only for those purchase under $200 but over $50.

Ms Fong was there but I didn't show up as a BK Mom, if really can get 20% discount for all BK mom, please let me know so that I can get more discount.

BTW, I bought over $200 so also got 20% discount.

温迪英语系列 (Wendy English for 2-6) , you may read details on page 41 of this topic. Last week, I still found 1 box for Wendy English for 2-6 at "Ixxx".

(I don't like much about Wendy Eng set for 6-12, because the large books in this set have lots of words on a page. It's not easy for kids to read. But the books for 2-6 set are small in size which is much easier for reading.)

BTW, you can also take a look at the story books of New Reading 360 (very cheap, each pack with 6 books => < $20 for @ of the stage 1-4) but the printing quality is just fair. Moreover, the higher level of Ready Reader, => i.e. 开心小读者 level 1-4 (on page 37, 40) are also worth to take a look. Each level has ~ 4-5 books with 3-4 stories in each book.
