我覺得男孩子可以向較高難度挑戰, 考慮下 Oboe 丫

Your son is 4 and indeed very close to the age of my son who is 4.5 years old.

How long have your son learnt piano?

My son's teacher doesn't told me any arrangement for exams. How long should a child learn before starting with exams?

sindy & heidi媽:

Piano 我係外行,但我親身既體會係---小朋友(大人就唔知)手型&基本功不正確耐左好難執返正,&彈D音色唔靚,上到higher grade D難歌會有difficulties, because D techniques are insufficient to cope with D難歌快歌. Most importantly D小朋友基本功唔好會用錯力,彈一陣就會攰,咁就冇心機彈落去! James 就有D咁既problems! :-( :-x

Actually, my son will be 5 years old coming August.

He has been learning piano for 1.5 years (half year - group, 1 year private).
The exam is held by 琴行 to check if the student is up to standard. It's a rather informal one. No certificate will be presented.

I'll not push my son for formal exam so soon. I'll consider this when he's 6 years old.

Nice to receive your reply.

My son will be 5 in the coming Oct. So our sons are more or less the same age. However, my son just start off playing piano in Feb this year.

I also share that I'll not push my son for formal exam. I think it is most important to develop his interest in music at this age and have a self motivation to explore and appreciate music. I personally think that it is no use to get a grading if he doesn't have a "feel" in music.

Hi to all moms,

My son is 4 and we started the 1st private lesson this Thur. Before that, we completed the 'Music Wonderland" course at Tom Lee and progressed to "Junior Music Class" for 1 month.

It's good to have a chance to share your experience here. Like yesterday, we booked a practice room in our neighborhood for 1/2 hr. As expected, a 4-year old kid would like to play the keyboard randomly. don't agree with her, I think it is quite hard to force the kid to behave for 30 min. Esp. he needs to practice the middle c only.
