and still want to buy lots more children's English books, you should also go to KixxMxKixx. All books at 50% off.

They have Readers (e.g. EtR, RtR, MathStart etc), not too many, but some. Original price marked $39.90, 50% off, ==> $19.95@
Also some NG booklets $79.9@(before discount), some titles are : Weather, Sea Creatures, Cats and Wild Cats, etc.
And some large-sized, hard-cover books, eg What do dinasours do before going to bed (or something similar), $14x@ before discount.
Some Peter Rabbit series hard-cover handy-size books.
Some Barney, Clifford, both story books and colouring books.
For older kids, Star Wars, some paperbacks at $20nett eg Peter Pan, Frankenstein, Tom Sawyer, Swiss Family Robinson.

But the Mongkok shop I went to was pretty messy. There was only 1 young shopkeeper, most of the books were placed without any order on bookshelves / display shelves near the shop window. Most of the readers (not many in total) are on a shelf not along the window, next to a pillar.

The selling point was removal sale, but the shopkeeper said books are offered at 50%off in all their shops. They have more books in their TST and Cheung Sha Wan shops.
Books will be replenished from time to time.
The Mongkok shop might close about 1m from now when lease expires, currently negotiating lease renewal but don't know, even if they move it will be somewhere in Mongkok.

Credit cards are accepted, and it is a treasure trove !
I think the Readers are from the same supplier as Ixxx, since books are marked with permanent market at the bottom in the same manner. The Readers are a few dollars cheaper than Ixxx.

Worth going, if you haven't been there.

Again, I :-( :-( :-(

Also some Lego-compatible bricks, brand is "Cobi", quite cheap.
Some wooden toy houses at $80nett approx - police station, fire station, hospital - which I dared not point out to my little monster !!!

Last time when I passed by the shop, the books were really in a mess. Difficult to find what you want.

Hi Bluestar,

Yes, KissmykiXX is another good place for book hunting as they always offer 50% off on books and toys.

I've also bought many Barney, Clifford and Bob the Builders books there.

Once I found Clifford Phonics Vol.2 there selling at $129.9 less 50% ---> just $65!!!

But whether you can get the books you desired is by luck, because sometimes the sales ladies themselves do not even know what books they have!!

It seems they just buy a mixture of children books in lots (of which the books are marked by a black pen which means non-returnable to suppliers) and sell at their shops.

It's lucky that you can see Mathstart books there! I've never seen that series of book in KMK la.

btw, I bought a large wooden house (w/ 10 little wooden figures and plenty of little wooden furniture) in KMK last month at $4XX. I played with my son and we had lots of fun la!!

I bought a set of wooden Noah's Ark (branded Wanju) for my son. Only $8x (72% off items). I saw big wooden house set too $5xx at 72% off also. According to the salesperson, all white label toys are 72% off and books 50% off.

For VCDs, seem idxx still the cheapest after discount.

Lots and Lots of good books found at KMK today. Including two Little Critter Stories:

"Just say please"
"Just a little different"



Even found Eric Carle's series "olar Bear Polar Bear what do you hear?"
, "anda Bear Panda Bear what do you see?" and "Do you want to be my friend?"

"Too much" <--- no picture. teaching about "too + an adjective"

"Fingers, Forks and Chopticks"
<--- more for myself as this is a funny book about how humans evolved from eating with hands to eating w/ forks and chopsticks. Cute!

A lot of other good books at HK$19.9 and below.

The publisher "Harcourt" has lots of good items too. HK$19.9 for 2 books!! unbelievable!
