Have you seen the real thing around in HK ?
I still haven't been to any bookstore yet. Jetlag, sleepy and lazy, loitre all morning, then nap, then out for dinner, and have to look after my son.

But the Alpha Tales and Number Tales look really good. Haven't opened the plastic wrap but presentation of the box packs is very decent and I expect such items to be real good.

I wish to talk about the Little Grammar and Little English Reader with you ah ???

What about Little Grammar and Little English Reader ? Need to look look at your posts first. It takes about 1 minute for me to go on to the next page here on this dxxx stupid PC !!

I stayed up from 1 - 5 am this morning (it is now 11:20 pm here) to search for my air tickets and hotels for Disneyland trip, and only just managed to understand what hotels are available and how much. Asked a local agent for a quote and it was US$1500 for 4 nights hotel + air fare. If I try to make e-bookings the same thing should cost about US$1070. Things become more expensive if you make last minute bookings, for advanced (over 8 - 10 days) bookings you get much better rates. Had to figure out which system it was here (vs. the jup dead chicken system in HK).

My only complaint re Ah Ma Zok and Lego e-orders is their over-extravagant packing. That's why there is so much being recycled. Othrewise the content of the books is very good. Even the big over-sized book and real heavy books arrive in very good condition.
Really need to go to supermarket to jup carton boxes to get a very big one to hold things.
The RC Biggest Book will be placed at the bottom of the carton box !!

The Caldecott Medals is a sort of Q-mark for books - you get very good books if you look for the CM books. But then they are placed everywhere. I like to look for the CM books in B&N first then consider buying other books.

There is a Borders bookshop at Stonestown quite near where I am, can go by bus, but I am still unfamilira with the road / pedestrian system. I have a 30% off on 1 book coupon from Borders so need to go there either 23 or 24 July, probably 24.
There is a toy shop there called Children's Delight or something, which sells some Thomas items, bought a Thomas place mat for US$5.5 + 8.5% sales tax.

kittylock, is the price for my placemat fair or expensive ??

If you want to buy a playdesk to hold Lego and Thomas, you can take a look at :

Nearly got knocked over by a L-turning truck yesterday (fortunately the driver was courteous and stopped for ppl to cross otherwise my son and I would have been XXX) and before it appeared it was green lights for cars along the main road also, so how can pedestrians cross I just don't know.

We will go to an outlet, Gilroy, tomorrow which is just over 1 hr's drive away, and shop shop shop for everything - clothes, Crabtree & Evelyn. No kids bookshop there though. The temp there is like HK - 34oC.

The day after (Sunday) we will go to Cosco, now Cosco also sells some books which are quite interesting apart from bulk canned goods, toileteries, undies and standard furniture.

I know US is the most advanced country techno-wise, but when it comes to suburbs and smaller towns dialup modem is still widely used.
Would you believe it, about 10 yrs ago the bank books (savings accounts) were still hand written, then progressed to being typed in (manual typewriter ==> elec typewritre) by the bank staff, and it was only about 6-7 yrs ago that entries were computerised. One gets quite scared of savings $ being "misplaced".
I am now in a residential part of SF, not the CBD.

Thank the Almighty that I didn't decide to go to London or else ......

My next trip will be Sing. Less chance of terrorism attacks. Need to be v careful becos D-land is also a prime target for attack.

My sympathies.

Just finished being Ah 4 to my boss.
Boss is now fast asleep. (1:33 am here.)

He flipped through the "20th Century Children's Book Treasury" by himself, and told me "this book has the same Goodnight Gorilla story as in the VCD".
In the daytime he prefers his Lego (bought 2 small police motorcycle / car sets for him to play with u c).

Still need to book my trip to D-land. ?-(

Seem that both you and I have made a lot of mistakes --buying duplicate books. We are really a bit ill (bookaholicism!!). I think it is a fatal disease................there is no medicine!!!! :-( :-( :-( Agree?

The snail PC can show your Chin text, e.g. the ones under your Susan book.

The terribly long book fair queue - maybe not all ppl are going to Kids books section. Of course home is the most comfortable place.

I successfully booked a D-land vicinity hotel thru Zuji, after much searching. But when I tried to book air tickets, I encounter some problem : UA and AmerA require input of credit card billing address which must be in USA, but as you well know mine is HK add. But if I buy from Zuji also, Zuji delivers physical ticket to HK address, not e-ticket which I can print out here.
I will try again tonight, to book UA and enter a US add thought it is not the same as my cred card billing add and see if I can get my tickets. Stupid xxxx system in this e-world.

We went to Gilroy for shopping but it was as hot and sunny as HK and the heat was very dampening.
Will go to both Borders and B&N tomorrow. My cousin said Borders price higher than B&N. See if I can find Grammar Tales and some other interesting books there.
No need to jup carton boxes from supermarket - need to go to buy a huge enough box for all books and Legos. The RC Biggest Book will still need to hold the bottom of the box together.

So, how will you deal with payment then? Why don't simply ask your cousin to pay for you using US credit card 1st and you reimburse her/him? NO need for the trouble.

Mommy Laid an Egg offers me the opportunity to explain reproduction--and the intricacies that surround it, such as how the egg is actually placed into mommy's uterus--exactly the way I would want a child to understand it...not too much, not too little. It walks the fine line between medical over-articulation, speculative "love talk" (ie: When a man loves a woman...), and baby talk. And best of all, it takes the approach that most children take on this subject--something they already knew. When the parents attempt to offer a childish explanation of where babies come from, the children offer their own explanation in their own language. Children will enjoy getting the upper hand, as the children in the story do. I highly recommend this to all like-minded parents.

Found this at 但以理 at the bookfair but did'nt buy coz the price was marked unreasonably high. Find its content quite interesting EXCEPT for the part which illustrates (in a cartoon-fashion) different intercourse positions. More for open-minded enough parents!!!

Except for that part, i think that is a good book to introduce about origin of a baby for kids.

It's now 2 am. Our D-land trip will be 1 - 5 Aug. Don't envy me - the heat there in LA / D-land is as intense as it is in HK, and there is not much shade if you want to play and ride.
Most likely something to do with global warming. Even SF is warmer than it was 2 yrs ago.

My piglet is sleeping about 12 hours a day and not eating much.

Will need to either use my cousin's credit card, or call up United to make air booking. Tomorrow morning la. 24-hrs service I think. If I wait till Monday maybe price will go up (less than 7 days, ==> passenger needs flight urgently, ==> higher px(.
American logic.

O you and your aardvarks again !!
Instead of saying somebody has a long face like a horse, maybe we should start to compare with an aardvark - or should it be long mouth only (pouting) ?

The ORT Stage 2 Pattened Story includes a teaching notes and the following 6 titles:-

I think ORT has re-arranged some books from stage 3 to stage 2 and some from stage 2 to stage 1+. So I've been trapped la!!
