Oh.. Gloria, you've got Them Bones finally?!

Yes, this one is really funny and nice, and it's educational also cos it teaches kids our bones structure inside out bodies, but quite expensive ($19X!!).

Actually there's a song (called crazy bones etc) contained in "Wee Sing Silly Songs" (which I've got it from Kick-my-kid at $4X) matched with the script inside.

Re: Innovative Kids : I was asking how you find the contents and its quality and worthiness of owning. I suspect that maybe the wheel is more worthy. The other one has 10 words ONLY!!

Re Step into Reading: Though it is b&w, its advantages are:

1. small books which kids like to hold them (good for kids, but suspect that your kid will find them too simple if his english standard is high already. You know your kid is 2 yrs older than mine)

2. Systematic - each set has 8 books. For Level 1: They start with consonants, e.g. k, h...Book 1-3 introduce 9 sounds, then the Book 4 is a revision book of those in the first 3 books. Then Book 5-7 introduce another 9 sounds, book 8 does the revision.

3. The characters are simple, nicely drawn but stories quite simple and funny. They make my son giggle.

4. A parent guide note which teaches you how to use the whole series. I studied it last night and found it quite 'prof'!!! They suggests using the set before proceeding to other Step to Reading story books (of course I did not follow la!! ha..)

You may find it too easy for your son. That is the only reservation for you!!

Tai Long Sai Waan is a good camping site.

I've brought my son with my hubby to Fan Ling area (very close to Sha Tau Kok) for hiking last Sunday. The weather was extremely hot and sooo... sunny -- and my son always asked us to hold him as he was exhausted. So my husband hold my son in his arm, and I took the heavy backpack (with at least 4 lit or water and other drinks, spare clean clothes, sunscreen, food, towels, ..,etc), and at the same time holding an umberlla to shelter my son and husband, walking up and down the hill, ........, what a trip!!

How come the price of hotel and ticket just like "seafood price"? Fortunately you are so wise to buy these earlier, though not the earliest, still can help to save almost HK$4K!! You're a great bargain buyer!!

For the DVDs, no need to worry for Region 1 zone or not cos I have 2 DVD player at home (1 Chin and 1 Jap). And actually I'd ordered numerous DVD from Amazon before and I have no problem in watching. Would you pls go ahead to buy if you're available la.

When I checked the prices last night, they had risen to HK$43xx and US$8xx respectively !!
So I regard myself to have SAVED quite a lot.
==> more ammunition to buy. although them might have come even cheaper if I had bought even earlier, but was 15/16 while still in HK. Must see and check from reviews that the hotel is clean and cost-effective before I dare to book.

URGENT

Just tried to search on Amazon re cost of the DVDs there, and found 1 terrible point : the DVDs sold via Amazon are for Region 1 only.
So I am not sure whether you can read the DVDs in HK unless you use a China-manufactured read disc king.
You had better check check before committing yourself re whether you want the DVDs or not.
The titles of DVDs in the 2 sets I bought are :
Harry the Dirty Dog
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
There was an old woman who swallowed a fly

Miss Nelson has a field day

Yes, it has 10 pages for introducing 10 compound words with sliding pictures only. But at the bottom of each page, there's another 10 compound words hidden in another picture which required children to find it out.

So there should be altogether 60 compound words in the book.

I found this book introduces to kid the concept of putting 2 words togehter to make a brand new word of totally different meaning.

e.g. Butter + Fly ---> Butterfly
e.g. Snow + Man --> Snowman
e.g. Sun + Flower--> Sunflower

Re: Phonics Wheels (target age 4-7)

Kids may find it funny to spin the wheel and let different words appear.

I found the book is quite suitable for kids who start learning phonics.

Wrong, I can survive, am still alive.
My son is coughing less and less.
No we don't own Little Grammra / Little Reader, so no comments. Haven't seen them around in SF either.?-(

Gilroy PoloRL shop only had 1 Polo bear twin flat today, twin fitted sheet was same price but none available - shop didn't replenish since the last time we went. And my dementia is quite serious - the background is blue-striped not blue denim.

We went without the old ladies today, left them at home, and completed shopping in 3/4 of Gilroy, there were 4 separate sections we could only make 3. Didn't have time for a toy shop and a book outlet. Had to leave by 4pm then go home fetch old ladies for dinner. Traffic a little congested today both ways, took 1 hr 40 min drive per way, shopped from 11 am - 4 pm incl sandwich lunch. Very fulfilling and satisfying for my shopaholic senses

but still :-( to my pocket. Which is why I only do it once per n yrs.

Bought a small Coach sling bag (approx US$60) for myself and a medium-sized shoulder bag ($105) for my mum today, comes up to around 50% discount, otherwise all trousers for my hubby and for my son (sizes 8 and 10

). No need to buy basics for the next 2 - 3 yrs. The goods are piling up on the bedroom floor I think I have to tape together the packing carton boxes and start throwing things in. Buys over the next 3 days will be my basics. Spent another US$600. :-( Spending much faster than earning rate :-(

Received our last small parcel from Lego.com today, subscribed to a "brickmaster membership" at US$39.99, gets 1 kid L-land admission ticket with expiry 31 Aug 2006 (this already costs US$36.95 at L-land gate or US$30.xx from some discounted sources), 2 thin Lego magazines and small Lego set every 2 months x 6, plus one VCD for building info. Quite a good bargain if you have a mailing address in US and are going to L-land. Lego.com mailed these starting 18 July and received it today, just in time for our trip next week.

Noted re regionless DVD reading machines.

Found that there were only a total of 36 book-videos in the 6 dvds, not 42 we expected. But still good bargain under US$1 pre book-video.

My son saw the "How do dinosaurs say goodnight" last night. I let him run "chicka chica boom boom" and "Harry the dirty dog" tonight for bedtime stories but still didn't sleep; only slept after I switched it off.

SF is quite cool these few days. My son kept asking why it is so cold in summer. Funny temp variation in diff areas of SF.

Wish me good luck for finding our way downtown. Many 6ft+ blacks and drunken ex-soldiers, and homeless wandering in the area, quite scary sometimes. Our target is the cable car ride, and a big Macy's dept store near Chinatown.

Did you know that the RC fire trucks were just like the real thing in SF ?
And need to pay US$1000 if you call for an ambulance in emergency ?

Can anyone answer my son's questions please :
Who invented the car ? The road ? The house ? The wheel ?
Name of the inventor please, not just Romans, Chinese, cavemen etc.

Yes I do have Little Reader is 英文小读者 forgot the title
- Not my 1st priority on must buy list, but at the time I bought it there were few alternatives available.
"OK to good" range.
No need to own, better off borrow from library.

Really haven't seen Little Grammar.

I like the word-combination book you have been discussing, but only 10 words and too simple.

Found that I can only log into BK when total no. online is below 1000.
