Yes. If you need to travel and already go the air-ticket, you can apply Canadian citizenship and passport at the same time. The passport will be ready in around 3 weeks. And the citizenship card will be ready from 6 month to 14 months, depends on how long the queue is. They will let u know the approximate time when u apply.

FYI. In the above link, it stated, as long as you can provide info that you need the passport to travel. (Eg air tickets). Citizenship and passport can be apply at the same time.

My case (last year) and my sister case (this year) not accept
My sister baby will go to Australia in feb
But they told us to apply passport it need citizenship cert as well
My sister son is Australian (they did show the ticket)
So he use Australian passport to go back Australia
My case, I wait until I received the cert for my son to apply passport, as I don\'t have any travel planning at that moment, but I asked while applying cert in person.

No need to bring the baby but need to leave his/her birth certificate with the office. So make sure you won't need it or you have an extra copy of birth certificate.
